I never got Brunt as captain, always assumed there must be something he was doing off the pitch/in the dressing room, because on the pitch all he did was windmill his arms and look petulant.

Can't say I agree with that, Chris Brunt is one of very few players we have that never hides on the pitch and always wants the ball.

I was coming from a leadership point of view rather than footballing. I agree he is always willing and looking to take control. However for me he doesn't seem to rally the troops well enough. His constant moaning and petulance is annoying too. McInnes was the best captain we've had for a long time.

Really hope we sign Lescott as he is a classy player in defence.
If nothing else it gives up hope to have a great last away day at Arsenal next year when we could all dress up as Star Trek actors, after all Joleon is a Klingon ;D

John Percy, a very reliable midlands based football writer for the Telegraph, has tweeted today that Lescott will have his medical tonight with the club hopeful of confirming a deal in the next 24 hours.

If JL signs it will be interesting to see who he plays with. He has to be straight in the team.

CL has tweeted that there is no guarantee that the transfer will be completed today because medicals can drag out. If not, it should be completed tomorrow, he says.

New coach, new start, it's got to be a new defence for me. Lescott and Dawson, get rid of Olsson, keep McAuley as back up and get in Martin Kelly to cover centre back and right back. I'd even go as far as make Lescott captain.
Izzy Brown? Yes he is!

This is a massive signal of intent for me. Lescott is a classy player (forget the fact that he's a dingle), and is only 31.  He's good for at least a 3 year deal.

This would be good news, the club wouldnt announce that on an England match day anyway.

It's all agreed already but club want to announce tomorrow so as not to bury good news in the media build up towards tonight's England game. This a small chance that there might be a small line of conformation later but no big announcement expected today.

Serious? Yet they chose to announce the head coach appointment in exactly the opposite way! Unbelievable.

Great news though, cheers for the update.  8)

What's the betting he'll fail his medical due to his knee reconstruction even though he passed medicals at both Everton and Man City?

This is a fantastic signing. We must now follow this up with some more top signings if we are to progress.

Been down this path to many times in the last few seasons to say it's done until he's signed & we can all see the pic of him & a scarf in his hands.

Stress is my middle name when it comes to albion signing players :-) could be massive for us but if it falls through its going to be chaos again.

I don't know how these signings work? But would a medical be the last part of it with terms agreed before?

There was a post earlier that said he had only started 10 games.
