Matt Wilson just confirmed we have accepted £10m and its expected to be completed in time for tomorrow.

I think we brought him for £13m, the reality is he may of had a £17m clause but nobody in the right mind would pay that because he has barely played a game in the last year or so, so i think we have done well to get £10m, if Albion were buying him now for £10m i wouldnt be happy based on a few good games in the world cup, i would look at his form over the last two years and its too good at all.

Not going into the was he / wasnt he injured debate, aside from his first few games whatever the circumstances he has contributed nothing to us, shame as he clearly has a lot of talent and i imagine he will up his performance levels on a bigger stage at Monaco, like he did in the world cup, but he very rarely did it for us when we was actually on the pitch.

Whether he was used incorrectly by Pulis, rushed back by Pardew, etc, etc the fact remains including his initial transfer fee and wages since (£80k a week rumoured) we have spent over £20m on him, we have managed to get back £10m with this transfer fee so we have lost around £10m which has to go down as quite possibly the worst transfer in our history for the time on the pitch, actual contribution, etc.

I dont blame all that on Chadli but i will be delighted to see this deal finally go through for all parties, he was never going to play in the championship and it just needed to be completed once and for all.

While the price isn't great (somehow making a loss on a player of his quality in this inflated market!), I do understand the clubs decision in some senses. He does not want to be here and he has had a terrible injury track record for a while now. There is no guarantee that if he stays he would stay fit enough to have much impact on our season. While £10 million doesn't seem much in a market where average players are moving for nearly £20 million, it is still a significant amount and with good scouting it could be reinvested well.

That doesn't make me feel much better if course. I was banking on Chadli staying and becoming a real danegours option for us. A player of his quality could have torn this division apart and helped us achieve promotion but with him gone we are now left with that we have. 1 day left to bring players in, else we are left with a healthy profit this summer.

Appears to be correct. Brummie Mail "believe it to be true"

https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/west-brom-transfers-live-monaco-15089414

Lets hope so!  I'd be happy with that return on a player that was invisible for us, and with his recent injury record he must be considered a real risk but I guess one worth taking for a club like Monaco at 12m Euros.  Wont be missed and I didn't expect to see him in the stripes this season - I don't think he showed any real desire to play for us in the Premier League so there was little chance he would want to play in this division.  if this falls through for any reason I expect him to be suffering with "niggles" until the next window.  Fingers crossed he passes that medical.

Hope to see this invested into a new central midfielder (the right side of 26) with the ability to improve us.

poor price but understandable, how much will this parasite have cost the club overall? and for what?

Sell, move on, lets just hope we don't fritter the cash away, or that it gets siphoned off to China through some creative accounting.

One in, one out has been the rule so far - so we should see somebody come in if we have time and can arrange a loan to purchase deal.  Hopefully we have already got fingers in pies in anticipation of Chadli going (not too much faith in that though but looking forward to the rumour mill churning for a couple of days - DAY)

Nacer Chadli: Monaco set to sign West Brom's Belgium international winger.

Could have been good for us, if he wasn't injured so many times.

Think it was inevitable the way things have been panning out these past few weeks. So lets see if the club has anyone lined up for the CM position with this expected signing to Monaco.

Sounds like Dack from Blackburn is the man to replace him. I’d be happy with that 😁

If its indeed £10m it might seem a bit of a poor deal, but take his wages for the season out of the equation as well and it frees up room for two signings of quality for this league.

Birmingham signed Jota for £6m just over a year ago, and he is outstanding at this level. Middlesbrough signed Flint for £7m who is also a top CB in this division.

I'm not saying we will or even should go for either of these players, but they are good examples of what you can get for such money when buying top, established players in this league.

Any two (or all 4 ;D) from Dack from Blackburn, Powell from Wigan or Maupay or Wood from Brentford would be terrific signings for a promotion chasing side IMO. If it's too late for this window then go after them in January DM!
