He is on an upward trajectory which is promising to see. His dribbling ability seems to be coming to the fore again and I feel that come January he could start to fire some goals in for us again and play a major part in the back end of the season

No Swift appreciation today?  ;D

Was superb when he came on, always wanting the ball and linking the play. Great technical footballer  ;)

Anyone know the reason for his HT substitution?

I suspect fatigue but, radio wm could not be bothered to ask cc in the post match interview.

Fingers crossed it is not an injury.

As I said at half time in the In Game Thread, he was utterly out on his feet and CC could not keep him on second half. He just happened to make the change I suggested and we were much better for it after the break.

The goal was absolutely brilliant. Mbappe scored something similar the night before where he sold the defender and put it in the bottom corner and people waxed lyrical about it...so we could be about to win the World Cup  ;D

Proving to be an extremely useful addition. His versatility is a massive attribute and, considering the fact he is not a left back, he has not looked out of place and has been much better than the left back we had the past few years. Heggem is still my preferred choice there when the squad is fully fit, however.

We know how BTA plays. Have snuffed his threat out.

What threat?

Another really solid game from Holgate tonight, love his first pass is most of the time forwards.

Nice to have that pace at the back too in the absence of Semi. Heggem and Bartley together are a bit one paced

BTA wants a goal.

He can want one all he wants, it’s his lack of footballing ability that’ll prevent him getting one

BTA coming on.

They’ve settled for the 1-0 loss then  ;D

Unsurprisingly we look so much better on the ball with Swift in there

I’d be inclined, to much derision on here of course, to get Swift on for Maja and leave Grant up top and get a bit more control in the midfield.

Maja could well get us a goal, but he looks absolutely shot, which you’d expect of someone who hasn’t played for a year and then has 20 games on the spin

Yep I think it’s a game too far for Maja sadly, he’s knackered

Getting very tired of old blokes in the crowd longing for us to pump the ball long  ???

Not suprised. Bartley is 33, has just come back from injury and played 90 minutes three days ago.

And is *****  ;D

To be fair, the only person in the centre of box was Cole and he had defenders in front of him.  Also to reach Cole the ball would have had to have travelled like a neutrino though Grant's marker, Gilchrist.  Whether Cole would have scored is debateable but it wasn't a nailed-on chance.

It's likely we do have to sell Grant.  But hoping to get someone better at a cheaper rate and during the winter window may prove to be a bit wishful.

It was just completely aimless, ultimately, does not look great on the highlights, was worse than I remembered it to be from watching in the stands. He would have been better off shooting from the narrow angle than what he did.

That was a cross from an acute angle.

You make it sound like it was a shot from the centre of the goal.

It was a shank across the box that gave no one the chance to get on the end of it…not sure what else you want me to call it?

Very good performance from him. Massive turnaround but I never really disliked him as much as others. He’s definitely a changed player this season though, just needs to be a little more clinical with shots and assists.

Agree entirely with this. That moment where Swift put him through late on and he just shanked it across the box said it all, despite the transformation, the limitations are still there.

Also agree with the call not to give him a new contract despite the transformation.

Surely it should come as no surprise that Bartley just isn’t very good, and is even worse now that age has well and truly caught up with him? Opinions on here most the time that he’s our best defender are just truly bizarre but each to their own

A draw will probably be a good result but surely we have to win at some point coyb

We certainly need to for our promotion hopes

Quiet in here today (presuming I’m in the right thread as it has been known for me to fat finger my way into the wrong one whilst at the ground  ;D)

They are a good side, can see us getting another draw in this one…

The fact CC played a strong team vs them in the cup tells me he know's the history between the clubs no doubt in my mind he'll turn them down if approached.

He's also not an idiot, and will feel the fans here turning on him, so if he feels his days are numbered because a number of fans have turned on a manager who has taken us from the bottom of the table to consistently challenging the play offs, he might welcome an approach from elsewhere.

Athletic saying he's now been granted permission to speak to Hull. Good manager.

His star is certainly on the rise. Deserves an opportunity at a higher level certainly
