It would seem from their forums not all QPR fans agree with your friend .

I accept that but Bilic must agree with my friend or at least accepts that Furlong has great potential or he wouldn't sanction the deal.

Never seen the lad play, but we certainly need a right back or two.

Ticks another one off the list, and on a perm aswell which is always good as our squad is thin.

If we can push through a deal for the return of Holgate, that will almost sort us out at the back as Furlong and Holgate can both cover RB and CB.

With the use of Ferguson at right back aswell it may be the only deals we do at the back.

Rumours that Bilic sees Holgate as the other CB.

Could see us running with

Hegazi
Bartley
Holgate (if he comes)
O'Shea

Knowing that Furlong can cover there and Ajayi can aswell.

Then Holgate and Furlong can cover RB spots. With Ferguson/Wilson around aswell.

Managed correctly I’ve no doubt Bartley is a more than capable championship defender. Jimmy Shan was a novice, yet the improvement seen in Bartley in the villa games especially was very telling.

Worst CH we've had since Stacey North

Two games though - one of which we lost.

Probably on my own here but I think that there was decent improvement towards the end of last season to the point that he was quite dominant at times.......a completely different player to the calamity earlier in the season.

Quite a few posters have commented on his improvement towards the latter part of the season and yes, there was evident improvement. However, he was still mediocre and simply has to be moved to the sidelines if we are to have a successful season this year.

I agree, and to bring the thread back to Darnell, I hope he is announced soon and is a success at the club. I am impressed that we are looking at younger talent and not going for twilight career players......

No he's not. We have had several worse CB's since then... Barnett, Lugano, Purse, Udeze, Ibanez were all poorer signings just off the top of my head....and surely even Bartley's biggest detractors would rate him as a better CB than Pedro Pele??

He wasn't improved against Derby, he and Dawson got ran ragged. He "looked" improved against Villa over two legs but we played with a deep lying three centre backs height 6'5", 6'5" and 6'2" against one centre forward, the immobile lump Tammy Abraham who thrived all season on crosses. Three against one in the air - if he doesn't loo comfortable in that situation he's never going to.

Thats rough on Leon Barnett / Darren Purse and Ibanez in my opinion. was Udeze a CH? I thought he was a full back!
I'll give you Lugano and Pele though.

£1.5m for a young England full back, sounds like a good deal.

He was born and lives in England, that's about it.

I am not sure about this signing, but I hope he does brilliantly for us and I welcome him with an open mind.

This transfer window is reminding me of the one we had when we brought in loads of cheap players like Jason Davidson and Christian Gamboa.

Hopefully, this batch will succeed where most of them failed.

Or the ones where we brought in the likes of Dorrans, Morrison, Brunt, Olsson, Mulumbu, Mcauley, Gera etc

On-topic, welcome Darnell, I'm really pleased with the direction our recruitment is taking. It finally feels like we're doing the rebuild we have needed for so long. Long may it continue.

As an aside, yeah agree with the others i think Bartley will be ok at CB in the champo.
