Albion Matchday Forum / Re: Team against QPR
« on: July 18, 2020, 04:30:26 PM »
I agree with that team assuming there's no way we will drop SJ and Gibbs isn't fit. If Gibbs is fit, I'd start him LB and Furlong RB.

Would you really drop the player who has scored 2 of our last 3 goals? (if Gibbs is fit)

I have a very simple solution to the Premier/Championship football season debate, one which I think will get a lot of support on this site, right here goes:
Season ends today & next season starts as normal or as soon as this corona malarky finishes.
Premier league stays at 20 teams
Relegation from the Prem:   current bottom 2
Promotion from the Champ: current top 2 (champions would be on goal difference, most goals scored or fewest games lost)

Although I can't see your post between mine & OldburyWBAs, I'm going to take your word for it Frank, because my mom once said to me "don't argue with a person who has the word 'Big' in front of their name" so if anyone has a spare after Frank has got one please message me  ;D ;D ;D

On A50 passed the ground to island. turn left then immediately left off slip road. You come to a small island. Straight over and people park up on grass verges. 3-4 minute walk to ground

Thanks for that info mate

Would take 7 points from 9 games and to be joint top.

Well done Slav and all concerned. Bed the new players into the first XI and we will go well this season.

Jeez you're easily pleased

Not seen him but heard someone shouting Allan in one of the training videos.

Was it this one?

I get that one from a vile fan I know on facebook regularly, calls me Mr Obsessed, as i say to him each time not obsessed, massively amused  :D

I've had to do 'snooze for 30 days' on a few of them, never heard a peep out of them earlier this year (well except for "we're building for next year" & "not sure Smith is big enough for us") now there's f'king shirts everywhere  >:( went into Lloyds bank in Erdington today & even one of the cashiers had one on, I asked her if it was red nose day & she was wearing it for a laugh, she wor impressed  ;D

Does anyone know for sure who is on this list that seems so mysterious? John Percy said we were going to talk to Hughton  and then there was speculation in the tabloids about Cowley and O'Neil (O'Neil is now out apparently). Other than that it seems like conjecture...
I loved the old days when we knew our manager would either be Ron, Ronnie, John or Jonny...that at least narrowed it down to 4 options ;)

Yeah now its either Tony, Alan, Alan or Tony  ;)

it's farcical, what is the point of appointing a Director of Football if you don't let him do the job he is employed to do and have to rely on a committee, we'll end up with a "camel"

We'll all get the hump if that happens.

General Football & Sports / Re: Salomon Rondon
« on: May 19, 2019, 09:37:35 AM »
There'd be uproar in Newcastle if they don't sign their player of the year. I think a lot could depend on if Benitez stays from Rondon's point of view too.

To be honest, if its a straight choice between the two for Salomon, I'm sure he'd want to play Europa football at this stage of his career.

timspiers@expressandstar

Wolves have met the release clause in Solomon Rondons contract down to player and club now,Rondon keen, if Newcastle dont move soon expect Rondon to be a Wolves player soon

Fair play to him if he goes there, I could see him thriving in that team.

All paid for with Coutinho money, don't let ignorance of the facts and football finance cloud your posts.

Point stands, classless Klopp & Liverpool spent £200M trying to 'buy the league'...................... & failed  ;D ;D ;D I'm delighted & you're beginning to sound like a bitter red

Gutted for them. Just needed to avoid defeat at City who have bought it again. Shame.

Alisson     @ £67M
Van Dyke @ £75M
Fabinho    @ £40M
Shaqiri     @ £13M

But don't let facts muddy the agenda

Shame really, dings against City would have been a great final for the football purists, they've been a breath of fresh air in the Prem with the style of football they play, hope they go on to get Europe, some of their players would grace the competition & I don't think their fans views & expectations are that different from ourselves, just they got lucky with their owners, fair play to them I say, those scummy vile b**tards from witton on the other hand  >:(

A super computer has predicted the finishing league positions of the top six

1. Norwich City - 88 points

2. Leeds United - 86 points

3. Sheffield United - 85 points

4. West Brom - 78 points

5. Middlesbrough - 77 points

6. Bristol City - 71 points

So, we would be up against  TP’s Borough in the semifinals, a tough challenge, but they are all tough options at this stage

Source: https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/super-computer-predicted-west-brom-15922000

As it stands:
Team                    P   GD   Pts
1 Norwich                35   26   69
2 Leeds                   35   21   67
3 Sheff Utd              35   25   65
4 West Brom           35   20   60
5 Middlesbrough      34   14   58
6 Bristol City           34     8   54

Damn you super computer.
 ;D

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: who are our "local rivals"
« on: February 18, 2019, 07:46:38 PM »

The crux of it. It's not a rivalry if the majority of one side isn't bothered.

Not sure whether you actually believe this or just on the wind up (I suspect its the latter), get yourself to Erdington, you can stop at mine for the weekend & I'll introduce you to some vilers, then tell me they don't hate us.
