West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Oliver Burke (on loan at Celtic)
« on: December 30, 2018, 05:07:27 PM »
No Gayle nor JROD currently. Jay looked injured to he before sent off.

Burke could be starting Vs Blackburn...

Sako. HRK Burke.   What a 3 to pick 2 from to join Barnes up front.

Eve without Gayle and Rodriguez I can still see him leaving Burke out completely and sticking Edwards on the bench instead. Burke definitely needs to get game time so a loan move could be perfect, with any luck he'll impress and we'll be able to claw some of the money back that we wasted on him.

Maybe either way we won’t be spending money but if I had to choose I’d keep Hegazi over Dawson but preferably not lose either.

Don't get me wrong I doubt we'll let either go I just think Holgate is a lad that has been offered around for a loan and its something we think can help us along, if anyone goes it'll be Mears just being released I imagine.

53
I could see holgate centre back and Dawson moved to right back

Doubt that would be the case though to be honest it'll just be yet another square peg for a round hole no matter how you look at it, could have easily done this with Tosin. Maybe another possibility would be us being willing to listen to offers for Dawson this window with Holgate replacing him in the short term.

Still not particularly convinced by him but as expected with the lads in front of him beginning to look more solid he seems to be improving.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Thoughts on the Season to date
« on: December 27, 2018, 08:33:13 PM »
Given the squad and having an inexperienced head coach I would think we are pretty much where we deserve to be right now. With that said I believe those above us are either playing to the peak of their ability or very close to it and I do wonder just how long they can keep it going whereas I don't think we have come close to hitting our best yet. The couple of clean sheets will do us the world of good as we have looked better defensively but the balance still isn't right as there's no way in this world that Tosin is a right back despite him doing a decent enough job there lately.

If we could maybe add a decent right back and some energy in the middle of the park then we should be there or thereabouts come the end of the season. The telling period is coming up in February with games against clubs expecting to be challenging.

Ashworth moved on so long ago its about time some of our supporters did. I'm in full agreement with Standaman, the Brighton job looks the perfect fit for him should he leave the FA role.

He's been like a breath of fresh air so far. Not been so excited every time I see a player on the ball since Koumas was running the show here. I do have my doubts about how he would perform at the top level against much better opposition but I don't really care about that just the here and now. Highly unlikely Leicester will want to be losing him so just enjoy his performances while he's here.

There was definitely a point in the second half where he did start to struggle with a knock. Hopefully he's missing the internationals as a precaution as he's been our most consistent performer by quite some way so far this season.

Under this blokes stewardship board refused to sack clueless to save 500k, sold Taylor Roberts to Leeds for 4.5.million to pay sicknotes wages for 5 months, wouldn't sanction Evans move in January which has cost the club 19 million. Jenkins is a Jerk.

He didn't return to the club until February so it wasn't down to him that we didn't sell Jonny Evans or that we sold Tyler Roberts. Deserves the hate just for not sacking Pardew much earlier though.

For the first 20 minutes in the cup game I thought to myself why doesn't this lad get more minutes coming off the bench for us? The rest of the game answered that question, his feet are simply much quicker than his brain.

61
Would put out a stronger side for this one no doubt. There's room for a couple of the youngsters in the starting XI with more on the bench but it would be nice to take the cup more seriously.

Is it just me who expects Darren Moore to persist with the Brunt and Livermore combination?

If he does he won't last long in the job.

The game tonight is too close to call for me, of course England are capable of winning but any side with the midfield Croatia have have to favourites going into it. Whoever wins will be clear underdogs going into the final though.

Amazed they have announced they won't be having any overseas friendly games.

Its never been a secret that he would love to play for Celtic at some point in his career and when he wasn't getting regular game time he wanted to leave the club and had a couple of opportunities to that didn't happen. I'm struggling to see any real issue with what he's said to be fair.

Days like today are the reason we love this game. Pure emotion from everyone when that goal went in, it may well turn out to be futile but today will live long in my memory.

I wish him well and hope he makes a full recovery. No doubt one of the best of all time.

I see we don't have any referee representatives at the world cup.
Obviously the panel must have been watching these muppets at our games.

I was listening to someone on TalkSport last night, may have been John Cross from the Mirror. He stated that the process to appoint officials started when the qualifying process began and that ours was Mark Clattenberg and obviously he's done one and gone abroad. Didn't catch it all but the process sounded a little strange.

Looking likely Pardew will still be in charge so it will be the same urine poor tactics with the same old players who have failed us all season so it will be an easy victory for Watford.

It tells you everything you need to know about how poor recruitment has been over the years when at 33 he's still arguably our best footballer. I hope its true that he laid into everyone after the game its something that needed to be done.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Official: Jonny Evans joins Leicester
« on: February 22, 2018, 09:47:20 AM »
Sorry if this has already been said.

When Leicester sold Kante to Chelsea his release clause was £20 million the contract was structured so they could accept bids over that amount which is why Chelsea paid £30 mil. Ibthink there will be more than 1 club interested in Evans and the fee will be more than £3 million.

The way that clause was structured it stated they only had to accept the highest bid over the clause amount. A Chinese club bid nearly £30m so Chelsea had to either match it or offer more. I have absolutely no idea if the Evans clause is the same and even if it was we would need a mini bidding war to develop and I have my doubts that it would.

We simply have to do our bit from the stands and just pray that it helps the players on the pitch as quite frankly that is all we have left. At the very least we if we do that then we can all say at least we did our bit.

« on: February 22, 2018, 09:41:14 AM »
I personally hope that he can perform some kind of miracle and somehow keep us in the Premier League but then we part ways in the summer regardless and start a full rebuild. If it is true about Evans being reinstated as captain this week then that just proves how weak a manager he is and that can't be accepted by the club. With that said it is extremely unlikely that anyone else can come in at this stage and make a significant difference so unless they want to wave the white flag in a couple of games time and get someone in purely with Championship football in mind then I don't really see the point in making the change right now.

I read, over the weekend, that details of the incident had been passed to a Spanish Judge to decide. I assume it's a similar process to our crown prosecution service.

They have said there isn't enough evidence. I assume its simply a case of the driver not wanting to press charges after being given a few quid for his inconvenience. If it was Barry driving he's a very lucky boy.

If only our more talented players had the same desire he does then we wouldn't be in such a perilous position.
