Tough game but I expect a win and a comfortable one once we score and they have to open up 3-0  ;D

All the stars point to a comfortable win for the home side . However, Huddersfield will know what to expect and be well prepared for this away game. Unless we score fair early and put them on the back-foot  this will be an extremely tough match

Can’t agree it’s constructive criticism. They criticise playing out from the back but can’t offer any valid alternative.

Not playing out from the back!? - Is that a valid alternative, for you?

Good old Lev, haven't heard that name in a while.

The football Gods are fickle, things are just not running for us right now, injuries, late goals costing points.

We're still in the play off mix.

Ha,Ha. Looks like I’ve stirred Mulligan😉
Interestingly I recall a friendly arranged to celebrate our first floodlit match - it was against The Red Army this was I believe in 1957. The Red Army became Moscow Dynamo and off course Lev Yashin played for Dynamo (Yashin was the undisputed best stopper in the world at the time)  Now my memory begins to become cloudy (I was 12 at the time) however, did Yashin play for the Red Army team in that match?
The score was 6-5 to the Baggies - The Red Army led 5-1 at 1/2 time, it was said that the visitors in a cordial gesture eased off in the 2nd half?. Was Yashin the Goalie?
As I say my recollections are a little misty-so correct by all means!

It was a very average free kick that the should have been meat & drink for the keeper to deal with. Sadly, it went straight through him. Palmer could have saved that with one hand tied behind his back.

I'm afraid Palmer injured, Mate.
I suppose we could have had Yashin in goal he would saved that freekick, unfortunately he is long dead.!?

Exactly my feelings.
I don't for a minute think Carlos will play him.
If he does then let it be on his conscious !?

Still think we should have a go at this.

🚨 Middlesbrough are in talks to sign Aston Villa's 21-year-old English striker Cameron Archer on loan for the rest of the season. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🔴 #Boro 🔵 #AVFC"

EDIT - O'Rourke says it's already agreed.

Umm - that would give us 3 young Championship quality strikers  - Archer would be on good money and probably a guarantee that he would play a certain amount of games .
Doesn’t make sense on any level - not to mention the discontent it would cause to the harmony we have with Dicke & Asante ???

Only change to the team is BTA in for Dike.

I'm slightly worried at the lack of rotation - I know the adage of not changing a winning team, but equally we have a lot of games coming thick and fast, and the last thing we need to be doing is dropping points due to being sluggish, or worse, getting an injury to a crucial player like Wallace.

Understandable Mark, however, we’ve only played 2 games since the World Cup break so I can’t see fatigue setting  quite yet, the players are on a high at the moment. Next 2 or 3 games are vital .

I'm not a hypocrite as I give criticism and praise where due. I'm quite balanced and measured in general. 'If' the reports were correct that Corberan wasn't his first choice (once again I'm not pretending to know either way) then I'm unsure what he would deserve credit for in this instance. Thank you for your time in reading this post in it's entirety unlike the last one.

Don’t get uptight, Dan - there is always someone who will attempt oneupmanship !?
I have to say I find your assessment of players well balanced and your merriment quite a joy!!

Best wishes
Ken

You've still not cited a single example to back up your point of view. At best I would agree that other keepers have made mistakes as bad - for example with the ball at their feet but I don't recall a worse goal conceded from a shot on goal, a child should have saved it, yet alone a professional keeper. I'm only banging on about as well as your trying to pretend it was just one of those things, and should be accepted, rather than acknowledging it was a howler and moving on. Even their player couldn't believe it.

Hanging, I say!!?

So we should appoint someone who has a similar style of playing as Bruce? Is that what you're recommending?  ;D

Did Bruce have a style? a system? I think not? That was probably his problem - even if he thought he had a system it obviously wasn’t working.

I'd be refreshingly surprised if they've even started looking for a new manager. 'Project Reset' has still got some way to go. Think Zohore, Bartley, Livermore etc. and contracts. I'm hoping we don't have to wait for Furlong and Phillips' contracts to run their full course mind.......  ;) .

I don't want to worry anybody but Roy Keane is in the crowd at Deepdale.

I spotted him and I’m absolutely terrified! It can’t be can it.
These imbeciles we have on the board will think it’s a coup??

There's a part of me that thinks they messed the paperwork up on purpose nobody is that incompetent, saved paying out on two more wages.

I came to a similar conclusion! I suspect that Lai did not give the go-ahead for whatever reason? - which put the board in an onerous position of cleaning up the mess without any inference to ‘he who pays the piper calls the tune’ so the ‘schoolboy errors’ were concocted to ‘save face’ when in fact it just highlights their incompetence.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Brandon Thomas-Asante
« on: August 31, 2022, 09:48:56 PM »
A positive note about the signing is that if Bruce does use him (which is no guarantee as Johnny C alluded to earlier today), then he does potentially strengthen our bench which has been devoid of game changers so far this season. There have been very few times I've looked at our bench and thought we had players with spark who might improve things this season. Robinson maybe, but he looks tired and jaded generally now, while TGH is under utilised and not explosive which you probably need from the bench.

Thomas-Asante's power and strength might be a useful asset in the final 20 minutes of games. Lets hope so.

I’ll go with that Baggies!!
Like you I don’t think SB will throw him into the Lions den immediately.
I would not be surprised if he didn’t bring him on at all, initially.
However, for future matches he will be an automatic game changer, imo.

England 320/6, Stokes out for 103. England lead South Africa by 169 runs with 4 wickets remaining

I did wonder why South Africa decided to bat first when it was cloudy on the first day?
The cynic in me thought maybe they wanted an interesting third and final Test.

But he scored against the mighty Hull whilst wearing a purple shirt…

Really!? Don’t you guy’s have anything better to do then spend all evening slagging off a player that just played 200 games for the Albion.
I just can’t believe how low we have stooped. For goodness sake show some dignity.
He hasn’t got too many games left before he calls it a day leave yourselves and Jake some some self respect.

For the last 10 years we have been owned by people who only have there own interests in mind.
Peace wanted us to be an established Premier league team so employed Pulis who had a proven track record of keeping teams up despite of any regard for entertainment for the suffering fans to reap the maximum profit which he managed to do
Now we have Lai and his consortium who have no football knowledge and no interest in any long term planning for our club, he simply wants his money back now and to get anywhere near that we need to be a premier league team with the riches that follow
Hence any long term plan, Bruce is now tactically a dinosaur and is being out thought and beaten by managers and teams with more energy and a lower budget because of his reluctance to play youth knowing he won’t be around to see any of them develop
I fear unless we fluke promotion the days will be darker ahead

‘I fear unless we fluke promotion the days will be darker ahead’
Umm - 46 games, really, fluke - if we do manage to get promotion it will be because the Manager somehow ‘played a blinder’ although I can’t for a minute see this happening.

After our first 2 games, I romantically believed we had turned the corner ‘ we were playing football, I hadn’t seen since probably the 80’s, I was on cloud nine!!- more like ‘ cloud cuckoo land’

My abrupt disillusion began at Blackburn - I was convinced we were about to put someone ‘to the sword’  why not top of the league Rovers! after all, in there 1st 2 games they had something like 5 chances and scored 4 of them, clinical or lucky? I convinced myself of the latter. At half- time my son was depressed - I told him ‘ look at Blackburn they are time wasting in the first half!!  they know we outclass them?…just a matter of time……just a matter of time , no worries. Not 5 minutes later I was depressed.
I have to say 2nd half Blackburn were an unadulterated disgrace - dropping down like flies! Just swat the buggers!! I shout!.
Toward the end, when the game was up - my disappointment in our performance turned to ‘anger’ not at the performance of the team, but our so called supporters - the guy behind me decided to take out his frustration on the back of my seat I told him ‘ politely what I thought of him - a disgrace to the name of West Bromwich Albion and the Black Country, whilst family ( all clad in blue& white) of hooligans laughed at the merriment.
His dear Wife bombarded me with a diatribe of foul mouthed verbiage!!
Well done you Baggies!!you have lowered yourselves to splashing around in the gutter!!

R.I.P Sir Bobby Hope. God bless my all-time favourite.

Condolences to the family.
My favourite player - I’ve mentioned many times on here how highly Shankly rated him.
I remember one game - I think it was against the Blues at the Hawthorns, he completely dominated the mid-field - absolutely majestic, he did that many times.

It really warms my heart to think back - Hope, Brown, Astle, Hartford, Chippy Clarke, Johnny Kaye, Graham Lovett, Cantello, Ally Robertson, John Wile, Osborne etc.

I was really blessed to watch that team with so much talent.

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want…………

Probably the worst season ever!! Glad it’s all over- not looking forward to next season.
We have had some nondescript seasons - but surely nothing like this rabble who had the audacity to wear the colours and  play on the same pitch as the legends from the past.

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want ??????????

Mate, I can use tact and diplomacy at the right time, believe me.  However, this is an open forum where everyone bleeds blue and white.  I call it as I see it.

I am not totally against older players if they add value.  I just don't see anywhere enough from Livermore to make me stand up and say this guy is worth keeping.

You must remember that the playing of any old player (even Cristiano Ronaldo) means that he is blocking the path of developing young talent.  That's it in a nutshell.  And yes I'm sure Livermore is a good bloke off the pitch.
