I wonder whether completing a dive after the ball had hit the back of the net would constitute a glaring error on the Alex Palmer thread.....  regardless of the quality of the strike. Possibly  .

Didn't notice in my first watch of the highlights but it was hit so sweetly and with such venom it lifted the back of the goal frame off the ground.

It was a rocket, but it was pretty straight and hit perfectly, it wasn't rising imo.

I know it rained quite a lot before and during the game, but a torpedo wouldn't have gotten far. I think missile would be more apt. 😉

I keep getting flashbacks to 'that' goal by Darren Bradley against the Dings. While different there are certain similarities. That and co commentator Terry Cooper's comment keeps ringing through my mind. 'It's come out of a cannon that one' or words to that effect.

I don't think I could ever have enough of remembering either goal or how I felt the moment the ball left either players foot at the time of asking. Same with Gera v Liverpool in the 3 v 0 at ours  .

It was such a powerful shot that it actually lifted the rear netting of the goal off the ground.
Never seen that before.
