He's a goal scorer when he's on the pitch which doesn't seem to be that often.  Brings me naturally to Dike.  When is he going to be fit enough to play more than a brief cameo?

It would be mad to rush him back in after the injuries he’s been through. We have Armstrong. Any Dike time this season, for me, is a bonus and all about getting him back to fitness and into a full pre-season and if he makes it through to Christmas unscathed we consider a new deal.

Onto Maja, I hope he’s back for the run-in and potential play-offs as yes he has scored goals but his link-up play is so important and could unleash Armstrong.

Meanwhile I think you've underestimated the devastation caused by my lurgy/hay-fever combo as mentioned in the Woodman. Horrific  :o .

Those ones are unsuccessful but with similar end product!

We seem to be entering our usual splutter and stutter phase at the end of the season whilst other teams storm through.
If hopefully we maintain our play -off position I think with TM we will win it.
( I am more confident in us winning then under CC , but I am less confident in us actually making the play offs under TM.)
 If that makes any sense?

To be fair, asides from the start of the season it’s felt like a splutter throughout. We’ve never really got going on any sort of decent run. The draw run was very strange. Was hoping we’d find some form over the last 5 or 6 but that didn’t really happen either.

Think I saw a fact that nobody has more successful dribbles in the league than him. Yes it would be better to see more G’s and A’s by his name but he definitely gets us in the box and contributes to our possession in and around the box where, let’s face it, Mowbray wants us to have the ball. We know he can score so he probably just needs one to hit the back of the net and then he’ll have a few more.

I’d also wager that despite not having one of the final two contributions that get totted up as a goal or assist he probably is heavily involved in the build up play before we score.

For me he is one of the first names on the team sheet - just maybe look for Armstrong a little more please.

Completely agree. And those same supporters are often the loudest for all the wrong reasons if and when things don't go our way.

Reminds me of Villa fans!

All this talk of Mowbray saying we should be targeting a win - well he’s actually said he goes into every game wanting to win. It might give the oppo something but I’d rather our manager is firing up OUR players in public to build a winning mentality around the entire club. The atmosphere against QPR was far better and I believe Mowbray’s pressers and what he says is part of building a better atmosphere around the entire place. In other words - I’m all for it!

Hull were under-achieving for a big part of this season. Now they’ve come into form and have a decent manager this game certainly looks tougher than it may have looked a few months back.
I would still expect us to win but under no illusions that Hull will come here, battle and have just as much right to take a result as we do - and I think this is something some of our fans forget these days.

I wouldn’t be against Lankshear getting a start but at the same time it could be n opportunity for Armstrong to kick-start things here. If injured players back at the back then Diakite starting in midfield would be good too.

Bartley cannot play 3 games and JM walking suspension tightrope -both fair and i get them. Just noticed no Bany either.

That’s it. I knew there was another missing. And Wallace.

Who’s missing out there? I can’t even process that bench I have no idea who the youth players are.

For me he is a very big upgrade on Molumby. He has that drive and aggression of Mulumby but he can pass cross and keep his temper. I think long term a midfield of Price and Mowatt with a new 10 next season is the future.

A Tony Mowbray team seeing a game out 1-0 with 10 men for about 60 minutes of football. Playing defensive and no major risks. Kudos, he and his team just pulled off a Corberan style victory. That wouldn’t have happened in his original spell (queue someone pulling out a report of where he done it before!).

Replays were pretty inconclusive for the red. It seemed like the ref was receiving the info maybe from the 3rd official or lino who would’ve been very close by. Shame as it was fairly comfortable albeit a game bereft of chances.

I’d probably take off Fellows for Holgate and as others have said consider Diakite for Molumby too.

With the fixtures coming up, I think this is a must win. Cov are the momentum team at the moment.

They certainly are especially the way that game has just ended. Time for us to respond and we’ve got the line-up, the bench and a home game against a side with poor away form. Build on Leeds last week and the win the week before and we’re building some form of momentum ourselves.

He doesn’t have the burst of pace that Johnston has but his delivery and picking out of a man is far better
Wallace never had pace to burn but consistently put decent crosses in when at Millwall
Even some one like Beckham never beat a man it was all about delivery
I don’t think he’s a starter in a proven premier league team but I think he’s would start for the newly promoted teams
I think anything over 12 million will see him gone in the summer which is peanuts to a premier league team
He needs to work on his shooting and on his left foot

I think age, contract and proven stats in assisting when compared to similar profiles means we should be looking for far more than 12 million. I’d be looking closer to 17 ish raising to 20.

Breaking things down I felt yesterday's goal was a systematic failure. The ball in really should have been snuffed at source but wasn't. Bartley tracks his man but the flight of the ball seemed to catch him out as it did Heggem. No real blame on either yet both have done better previously.

Wildsmith meanwhile managed a passable impression of an autumnal leaf blowing in the wind, something which our former shot stopper managed on numerous occasions. If yesterday's kicking was anything to go by he may want to focus on throwing the ball out when possible.

It was quite the collective shambles!

That's his thing isn't it. SJ was a great shot-stopper, it was the other stuff that let him down. SJ definitely let the fans get to him while here for me. Now though? I have no idea if his mentality has improved.

Don’t want to get bogged down with Johnstone talk however he seemed quite poor with long range shots too. Seems like he wasn’t as good when he had more time to think.

I think Wildsmith wasn’t great for the goal yesterday, got caught in a poor position where he wasn’t able to do much.

Heggem for being consistently good however Maja would probably have it if and by the end of the season may very well reclaim it. Some of Maja’s play is subtly brilliant and I’ve noticed some fans sometimes feel he’s contributed nothing to a game when I feel his contribution has been the best in the pitch but sometimes some of his incredible CF play comes with the next step of Molumby then doing something Molumby-ish with it.

Actually surprised to not see Molumby or Styles higher up in those rankings.

I thought that was a decent and very comfortable game - barring the last few minutes!

Bany and Price with excellent assists. Bany looked solid and that was a great first time ball counter Oxford.

Should have put it to bed before that.
