To be fair though, do we need him currently?

No, good post. There are a lot of calls for this lad to come at least onto the bench? Why, we're top of the league and have 2 strikers and Edwards on the bench already.

Plus both the strikers that played today scored. Always good to have options for the future though.

He is a work in progress and if we can get him for a reasonable fee, he would be worth the speculation, imo

Looks like he could be going back before we've even seen him.
Parent club keen for him to get game time apparently.

If Slav wanted him we'd sign him. I choose to trust his judgement. The U23's and borderline Premier League are worlds apart.

we DO want to sign him, we currently have no fear of losing him and don’t feel pressed to buy him yet, despite what the telegraph or local copy paste article would have you believe.

If he is recalled will Benfica be putting him straight into their A team then or will he still be playing for their B team at a level below Pl2?

Just noticed that another article says that Benfica want him to stay in England but get game time, so a loan to a different club then.

I said at the time we had over loaded on the final day of the srason signing 3 players who could play out wide. Up until seeing that though I was under the impression the reason fkr him not playing was that we wanted to sign him for cheaper in January? If that isn't the case, I have no idea why we haven't given him some time from the bench.

Bit of a mystery to me this one. Like others have said I would have thought he’d have made the bench by now given the positive reviews he has picked up playing for the U23 side. Wonder why he hasn’t?

Just to reiterate Slav said at the time it was a signing made the club. Possibly in case others had fallen through.

I’m not sure up to standard, if happen to be in this league again next year then may be worth a punt.

If it is true that Willock hasn't been given any game time due to the terms of the loan making it more expensive based on appearances made, it does make you wonder why we agreed to a deal that has stopped us using a player we really could have done with over the last month or so.

Along with the Zohore (and to a lesser extent) Austin deals, you do have to question the clubs judgement with some of the summer business. For all of the good work (Pereira, Diangana, Sawyers, Ajayi and Furlong), we have also made some real duff calls.

Zohore definitely.  Austin has repaid his transfer fee in the last 6 weeks. Willock a non entity of a deal that makes no difference either way.

If he has a great second half to the season then questions do need to be asked. Very highly rated and had a great spell in the under 23's but Bilic didn't use him. Rumours in local press that the terms of the loan made it costly to use him were then seemingly swept under the carpet (were they even true).

All in all, I wouldn't be shocked if in a few years we look back on this in the same puzzled way we do about Serge Gnabry's spell here.

Is this a first where we've signed a player on loan and he didn't play for at all (injury aside)?

It's not so far fetched really. What with all the clauses in contacts that fans are certainly not privvy to, there's a lot of shady stuff going on in football. The Serge Gnabry debacle is just mindblowing...motivation i guess? I guess football business just moves so fast.

Skoubou did feature - made an appearance in our 3-0 win against Coventry in 2004.
