Maybe he'll decide he's had enough, what with having been so ill recently, and just walk.

White flag.  Mass clear out this summer please, including the manager.

Why do you think it's coming to the end of Tom's involvement with us?
We don't have to sell him
I'm sure he will be gone unless we somehow fluke/scrape promotion

I've been so disappointed - I was pleased to see him return, but they do say never go back, don't they.

I don't care any more, we'd only be in for a hammering if we sneak it.  Mowbray has bottled it if you ask me.

GMac was slowish but his positional play was such that it wasnt a great issue. I have no idea if Caleb taylor is the same but we will only find out by playing him !
I'm really fed up with manager after manager refusing to give our young players a chance, it's basically cowardice - better the old stooge we know that taking a chance.  Griffiths the latest, along with Taylor.

Depressingly familiar.  Most of us will remember the first incarnation of the current manager - the season we got relegated, we regularly put in a decent footballing performance but lost by the odd goal.  A certain lack of fire in the belly maybe.

Brizzle often flatter to deceive and they have a tough run in.  Obviously we must go for wins every game now, but a draw wouldn't be a disaster.

wouldn't mind a repeat of the 3-4 game a few years ago

Great energy, pretty neat player, growing on me all the time.

He didn't do anything to grab my attention v Burnley, which is actually a good thing considering the type of game it was with us mostly on the back foot.  I agree Furling is more adventurous going forward, and very useful at corners particularly, but Holgate is a more solid defender.

The thing is Wildsmith is not the future, whereas Griffiths may well be, so it's time for the change now.  It probably was two games ago actually.

Nice to see a number of excellent FORWARD balls threaded through now and then.  Best form of defence as they say.

Some of these players aren't very good at football are they.  On both sides.

Coventry and Brizzle both on a roll, we need 3 points here

Matched the best team in the league, bodes well for the next steps in the rebuild

Leeds have scored the most goals (68) and conceded the second lowest (20) in the division.
I can't see anything other than a convincing win for Leeds.
Neither can I, my 2-2 comment above was just a wishful one.

If Sheff U put one over on them, they could be quite tense against us.  I don't expect we'll go too defensive, I don't remember Tony ever doing that.  Exciting 2-2 draw.

This feels like a must win game for a number of reasons: to keep us in contention for the play offs; for morale; to perhaps demonstrate that Mowbray has a plan and to relieve some of the growing frustration amongst a number of the fan base.
Especially with some very tough games coming up on the road, we need the points in the bag

« on: February 16, 2025, 09:23:17 PM »
He doesn't do tactics, he does strategy: get decent footballers out there with instructions to get their heads up and look forward, defend as you can.  He should now be able to see that Swift isn't the right type, Wallace is past it and Grady will be off.  He should put the younger players on the bench and give them ago.  Try and get a couple in in the summer.  If we do scrape the playoffs just go for it, we're due a break in the lottery.

the last manager forced an unbalanced squad into an awkward defensive shape that didn't quite work.  Mowbray has unpicked it, and it looks like a bag of off cuts again.  Maybe he's been given a free hit this year, and the promise of a few bob in the summer to rebuild, who knows?
