General Football & Sports / Re: Steve Bruce - Manager
« on: February 04, 2022, 03:31:10 PM »
I’m feeling a lot more confident about this season now.
Just saw a bit of his interview on Sky.
Looks like he’s up for it and intends to make his mark here.
Maybe if it works out then he’s our 4 year plan?
I’m going to back him and see where it takes us.
Got a funny feeling Dike will thrive under Bruce.
Wonder if Bruce was lined up a while ago and is that why Carroll’s here ?

I’m ok with Bruce.
At this moment in time we need to be pragmatic.
We are in a state of flux with the board changes on field dross and off field disconnect.
I think he’ll be a good fit for us and at least he will put players in their correct position.
Have a plan A B and C.
Have a solid formation that plays to our strengths/ limitations.
Think we all need to suck it up and back him now.
Pretty sure he’ll keep us in the playoffs and maybe Dike will be the finishing touch in the latter stages.
A front two of Caroll and Dike with Robinson Grant or Diangana off them will cause teams some grief .

Haven’t been on here for a  few years. But here we go again on the manager merry go round.
For my part we need stability and a cohesive plan going forward.
Short term the next mug who takes us on needs to sort out the dross and get a tune out of the rest.
For to long the club have taken the easy option and handed  players like Phillips and Livermore contracts as it requires no effort.
But short term if they do their usual trick they’ll be superb for 6 months .
If it’s Bruce then I’m ok with that short term.
Makes no difference who the manager is unless we get a decent scouting system up and running identifying players long before we sign them.
After the utter pooh I’ve seen this season anything other than Val ball would be a blessing.

« on: August 08, 2016, 09:00:07 PM »
Been a while since I've been on here but for what it's worth here's my opinion on Peace.
Up until four years ago he was superb for us.
He made us a stable debt free model for all similar size clubs to aspire to.
But then he gradually presided over the stagnation and downgrading of the playing staff and most importantly the first team. We had a forward line  not to long ago boasting Long Odemwinge Fortune and Lukaku.
Two recognised fullbacks.
Attacking midfielders with pace who were three years younger
Now we have one forward who wants to be here in Rondon.
One who wants to get away Saido and one who's past it Lambert.
We have no left back and one makeshift right back.
We have no real midfield attacking intent or pace or youth.
To give Ollson another year is small time !
He's past it and that alone shows that Peace didn't give a toss.
Yet again he's pulled off a master stroke and sold a busted flush to the Chinese.
He said himself the whole squad needed overhauling and that has culminated in one player in Phillips.
Peace knew to upgrade this squad would take millions so he sold it just when that cheque book needed to be opened.
And he's left that unpalatable decision for the Chinese to undertake.
Yes we have crazy money off Sky but that money needs investing in the team.
Peace knows we could very well do a Villa this year so jumped ship before the season kicked off.
I hope we bring in quality pace guile and goals before the window shuts.
But if not and we struggle.
Who again gets the blame Pulis like Irvine Clarke Mel and Di Matteo did.
Not Peace now certainly!
Lai will now feel the pressure of this ageing lacklustre impotent squad assembled on the relative cheap.
So while Peace has much to be lauded for.
To not upgrade this squad to the required standard in the last four years will be his legacy for me.
But like the lemming I am the Albion is in my blood.
And I'll still be there hoping for the best but fearing the worst .
The one bit of comfort being.
That the fee Lai and his backers paid for the Albion is more than the combined fees for Villa Wolves and Blues.
Well done Peace £200,000,000 ain't bad fir mediocrity!

Best Christmas present I've had. Hearing the flipper brigade down the veela crying. Oh I do love how little ol Albion have surpassed that shower of flap happy fish finned slop munchers with oversized egos and inflated chum filled seals! Ho ho ho

Not the best performance in terms of entertainment.
But it was solid and i never thought we'd mess it up.
The passing could be better but like others have said we did the hard part won the match and got the three points.
How many times have i watched us outplay teams and get bugger all so im more than happy.
Performance aside it could be worse...
You could be a Seal watching that Veeela chyte get hammered ...
Bring it on..... ;D

« on: August 10, 2012, 07:44:03 PM »
Having watched absolute drivel in the forward line during the 1980's with the likes of George Reilly,Paul Williams etc.
And then such nuggets in the 1990s such  as Brett Angell and that apology of a footballer Fabian De Freitas who slept in late and forgot there was a match on!!!!
I could write loads of rubbish forwards but cant be ar53ed we had so many back then...
To land a footballer of Lukaku ability and quality to me is statment of intent by Ebenezzer Clarke and Ashworth.
I was happy enough with Rosenberg but this transfer puts the icing on the cake for me.
We've come along way since losing to Bristol Rovers and getting relegated at their dump of a ground (only time ive ever cried at a football match)in front of their baying inbred laughing scum.
These marqe signings finally say to me that the club mean to stay in this league, consolidate and push on upwards..
Its going to be a tough season this year and im more confident than ever that we have the players to keep us up and push on..

And when we used to go away,"The Brummie Road Is Here".

There were some right rough characters who used to go up the Albion in those days. They didn't mess about.

Many have been priced out of football today, and some might say that is a good thing, but the atmosphere is flat compared with back then.

I loved the old Brummie and the crowd surges whenever the ball came near the goal.
Couldnt agree more mate ...
Ive been going up since the 70's as a kid and the atmosphere has plummed..
Its not just the old mob moving on but these days its like sitting in Stalag Luft 13..
The match day experience is watered down to such an extent people are frightened to sing let alone support the club..
Although many things have improved on and off the pitch the 21st Century version has lot the soul it used to have..
The crowd surges when we scored the noise levels made you deaf and the stand shaking as we jumped around..
Feel sorry for the new generation who'll never experience that who nknow nothing but this plastic poncy version where your told to sit down and shut up !

« on: August 02, 2012, 10:22:53 PM »
I was only a kid when the "Three Degrees" played for the Albion but even then i was enthralled by the sublime skills of Laurie Cunningham..
He could turn on a sixpence pull the defender inside out and leave him sitting on his backside..
For me the only other Albion player i could compare him to was Willie Johnstone who was another master showman..
Then you had Brendan Batson who could play a bit but also had that hard edge needed to worry the attacking player..
A composed and classy defender who i think never got the recognition he deserved alongside Statham Wile and Robertson..
And then big Cyrille what a player he was...
Powerfull pacy and without doubt the best forward ive seen wear the colours bar none..
Can even forgive him for playing for the Vile he gave me so manny memories..
Can still see the thunderbolt he scored against Norwich City in front of the old Brummie...
Chuffed to bits they are being recognised and not before time..

General Football & Sports / Re: More shoddy BBC journalism...
« on: June 08, 2012, 02:05:01 PM »
Nothing Hansen says is a suprise anymore.
He is so biased towards Liverpool and drones on and on...
His tactical appraisals are tedious and bleeding obvious..
I sometimes think the hierarchy at the BBC think the audience is comprised of CBBC kids..
With Hansen and Lawrensen you have two outdated old fossils..
So if im forced to watch the BBC with these two numptys giving their "expert" opinion ill turn the sound off..

14
I voted mid table..
Cant see a mass exodus of players unless Ebenezzer wants them to leave..
So with hopefully some new additions and hopefully Foster then anything around 10-15 place will be a good start for Clarke..
Biggest bonus he has now is that expectations have been lowered....

Another thing that is worth noting: all these posters whinging about our fans reaction being akin to the Villa's and Blackburn's fans reaction....can you not think of any better examples? after all, their fans were right. Both managers in question did a thoroughly awful job and the fans were proved right.
Disagree mate,i thought Mcleish was doing a fantastic job...

While Steve Clarke is not my ideal choice...
Have i missed something as nowhere have i heard Ebenezzer state in a press conference that he is the new coach.
Page after page of speculation tripe and now hysteria...
Im amazed at how easily some of us fall for the rumour and then display righteous indignation when nothing has happened...
Im still holding out for Ralph, but if its not him whoever gets the job will have my backing..
Because having watched the tripe under Saunders,Wylie,Gould,Little,Buckley etc nothing we have these days is that bad!
Reading some of the comments  on here confirms why i dont come on here very often...
And i call Vile fans arrogant!

« on: June 06, 2012, 09:58:56 PM »
Cant say im usually ar53d about welsh football or Cardiff City but have to say from a purely football standpoint its disgraceful...
Yet again the tradition of a club is sold and degraded for the lure of money...
Not an ounce of respect for the lifeblood of the club -the supporters...
Shows me everything thats wrong with football in England/Britain..
From obscene wages through to over zealous stewards to pricing the casual fan out of attending matches..
Not the game i grew up watching as a kid in the 70's..
Just glad we have a chairmen in Ebenezzer who on the whole has the best interests of the club in mind..
He's royally drunk me off at times but id rather have him in charge than some Asian hairdresser or Russian mafia types, who given half the chance would drag us down to london and rebrand us..
Ive supported the Albion through the dross of the 80's and 90's utter chyte....
But id rather watch that and bumbling managers again than sell our soul for a quick buck!

Hi everyone,

I am a supporter of Ralf Rangnick's former club Hannover 96. I can only congratulate you of getting this excellent manager (if he finally comes to West Bromwich). He is one of the best managers in Germany with a modern football philosophy. Moreover, half of the Bundesliga would be glad to have him as a manager, thus, he has a high reputation. He often stated that he would like to join the Premier League and now it looks like he can do so.

I am pretty excited how this story is going to develop. If you have any deeper questions regarding Ralf Rangnick I am trying to answer them.

Kind regards
(Basically welcomed the chap to the board ,and having watched German football in the past stated i though Rangnick would excell here if he comes and hope he does)

This current squadis the best ive seen in the last 30 years but...
Nobody would get in the Atkinson side of 78/79..
The best side ill ever see play up the shrine...
How much would the likes of Cantello,Regis,Moses,Robson,Wile, Robertson,Statham,Johnstone,Godden,Batson,Brown etc be worth on todays prices?
That nonce John Terry would have been kicked off the pitch by the softest player in that team back then..
Proper footballers not the overpaid pansies the media love these days...

Never really rated himself according to the way he spoke in that article.
Well ill vouch for him...
One of the best ive had the pleasure of watching in our colours and had a lot more quality than he or other people realised.
A pleasure to watch a player who wore the shirt with pride when others around him couldnt give a stuff.!

Stupid and irresponsible.
Lucky no one was injured and lucky it wont impact on his ability to work as im sure it would on any of us in the real world.
But in the scheme of things no one was injured and id only condemn him if he does it again.

25
Time will tell but for me he is a master tatician who can read the ebb and flow of a game.
And can influence a game with his calm demeanour.
The first manager Albion have had at this level who has experience guile and confidence in his own ability.
With all the drama going on at Bloose and Seal park its a refreshing change that as Albion fans we have nothing much to moan about in relation to the snot gobblers and Seal pups..
