(Hope this isn't breaking any advertising rules Mods) but have to give a mention to Simon Garner's book just published " One Last Shot
https://simongarnerbook.co.uk/

Garns, is one of my all-time favourite players, partly for being a clever, mobile and goalscoring striker, and partly becaue he seemed like a character. Any number of stories and anecdotes about drinking, smoking and colourful private life in an era before disciplined diets etc. After he left Albion (far too soon) he joined my local team Wycombe Wanderers where I got the chance to meet him a couple of times.

Read his first book, was a decent read so might have to get this one as well

I'm not a fan of cookbooks.

I had no idea he had one out to be fair.

Carl Hoefkens sacked by Standard Liege today, looks like he's had a lot to deal with in his 12 months, 2 transfer embargos.

He was sacked on the 27th December last year by Club Brugge

Do we see any of that money with the youth development rules?

I always thought he was one we allowed to leave instead of them poaching him, like with the lad who went in the summer.

Seems like a daft call if so as he is now tearing it up at this level.

thats a kick in the teeth for Plymouth. Not like the Vile are hard up for a few quid is it?

Good for Aziz and Boro though.

It's less the Villa needing the money, more the need for them to balance the books for FFP purposes still. The Grealish sale saved them, really, but they would still be borderline after the ridiculous amounts they spent on promotion.

The club agreed terms on a new contract in principle apparently then before he signed we reduced the terms on offer. Villa offered our original terms and he signed for Aston Villa.

Good point, I hadn't considered FFP, not that relevant to our club

Seems to be staying at Oxford to get fit again, he's been out injured since September and not due back until April, wouldn't be surprised if they offer him a deal next year as well.
