https://www.westbromnews.co.uk/2020/08/20/fantastic-deal-exclusive-kevin-phillips-blown-away-by-west-brom-transfer/Reading Kevin Phillips regular comments on WestBromNews, he sounds like quite an Albion fan at heart. Always has very positive comments on the Albion, even though I expect it has to be hyped a bit for the column. He obviously played for a fair number of clubs, but it wouldn't surprise me that he feels closest attached to us and maybe Sunderland. Maybe, there's a future job waiting for him in some form, perhaps on the coaching staff?
One of the biggest mistakes Peace made wasn't giving him a 2 year deal. We went down by 4 points that season and he'd have been the difference. Oh well...
My recollection was Mowbray saying he didn’t want to extend KP’s contract
Not how I remember it. Club reticent to offer a straight 2 year deal. Mowbray had little choice in the matter.
KP wanted 2 years straight and WBA didn't so off he popped.
IIRC it was a one year deal with year two activated after 20 appearances or so.
Mulumbu has rejoined Kilmarnock.
Ali Al Habsi retired on the 21st August.
He did alright out of us ! Certainly contributed to the dramatic improvement of our goal keeping department - NOT Once again NO MORE HAS BEENS !!
On the plus side he didn't concede a single goal as a result of an inswinging cross or a relatively straightforward shot from distance in a competitive fixture (for obvious reasons ).
27 years ago this day, 4th October, we lost Jim Holton (Big Jim). A good friend and great footballer.R.I.P “Big Jimâ€
Smashing fella, met him when he was running a pub in Coventry (The Rising Sun I think?). So long ago, way too young!RIP Jim.
Charles "Chuck" Drury has passed awayR.I.P. Chuck, enjoyed watching you play growing up, wing half in his day, but in today's football would be a defensive midfielder
