I don't think it's anything to do with commerce.
Despite the hysterical behaviour of the media acting as if the world is going to be wiped out people are fast getting sick of being locked away.
We only live once. Time is the price none of us can afford.
Let's looks at some facts which is what people are doing more and more in spite of the media.
Covid19 has a 99.972% survival rate.
Average age of covid death over 82, average age of natural death 80.
Majority of deaths can be greatly reduced by tucking the elderly and vulnerable away. This hasn't been done. This action alone would have saved more lives than any other action until vaccination.
Caution and sensible behaviour was what was needed from individuals. Better policies from the government.
There are over 50,000 people in this country who are no longer alive whether that is directly due to Covid or any other condition exacerbated by Covid.
It's very easy to write-off those over the age of 80 when they're not your mom, dad or grandparent and you don't have to chose which family members can and can't go to the funeral.
I agree, however the associated mental health impacts of locking only vulnerable away would be on a par with those we're seeing anyway. Oh to be told you're vulnerable and then locked away for months on end whilst everyone else carries on as normal. Vulnerable and marginalised.
There are an element of people who wouldn't follow any guidance. Government led confusion has only made this worse. It's not surprise that the countries who are faring best now locked down early and locked down hard.
Appreciate this may come across as argumentative, that's not how it's intended as I can completely understand your thinking and your frustration with the current situation.
