My dad said that we needed a Second Lockdown earlier but that the Government couldn't afford it. As for Mental Health this might sound strange but today I finished College at 3 caught a bus with my friend at 3:15 anyway as you had to pay to use the Bus Station toilets in Wolverhampton I had to walk through the City to the Mander Centre a Place I remember from my Childhood It was sad to see a City that I remember as a kid living in Moxley being busy being quieter than usual but at the same time the Childhood memories Made me happy. Anyway I got off my 79 and walked through the Estate by mine and that to brought a Smile to My face that Cold Atmosphere, The Dark Nights, Warm Lights of Houses, Traffic and Christmas Lights combined with the smell of Food it made me realise despite Covid There is still normality out there even hearing or seeing a Plane flying overhead brings a Slight Smile despite the fact I missed out on Celebrating my 16th Birthday with my dad in the Summer as he was busy in January and seeing my Friends there is hope out there.

Well done mate, good for you being positive, refreshing to hear !

I guess being able to Socialise at College has Helped albeit in my bubble. The last lockdown was terrible for me as I did go out with my dad for an hourly walk but I had to deal with multiple issues this one I did struggle at times but like I said socialising and having things to work on helps also because of Boris wanting to ban my dream car in ten years time I want it more so I guess that helps.

I’m off to get tested I think.

Have felt tired and lethargic the last few days, bit of S&D and just want to sleep.

I’ve no other symptoms and these are very low on the symptoms scale and not the main ones to look out for which I don’t have like, a cough, loss of taste and smell etc.

But work say I should think about getting tested.

Any news?! Hope you're feeling better and in posession of a negative result!

New Zealand, South Korea, Vietnam, Taiwan, Iceland, Singapore, there's 6 off the top of my head.

When you look at the charts for how well we've done at protecting our people, and the charts of how we'll we've done economy wise - we're at the wrong end of both.

South Korea are on lockdown 3.
A friend of mine is a teacher over there in an English language school.
Schools closed and all non essential travel banned. Shops, restaurants, bars. Full Monty

Goes to show there isn't a simple solution to Covid otherwise everyone would be copying it.

479 deaths and 15,871 lab-confirmed cases.

Sage Christmas advice:

https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/board-games-christmas-covid-advice-19362647

Sage, the Government's scientific advisory committee, has warned the easing of restrictions could cause a rise in the number of positive Covid-19 cases.

Scientists said families should be as careful as possible and avoid close contact - such as passing objects to each other or touching the same surfaces - with those from different households, The Mirror reports.

In its advice, Sage said people should be aware of the risk of spreading the virus when playing board games which involve a lot of shared pieces.

They have suggested families could choose to try quiz games instead.

How about meditation? Family meditation sessions, long ones. Of course, they would all have to be socially distanced meditation sessions, maybe separated by a county at least. Kill Covid19 with boredom.

Yep, and they've had just 522 deaths.

Do you mean simple solution as in "it's easy to do", or "it's easy to know what to do"?

Part of the problem is that there's no 'one size fits all' because countries, demographics and cultures are different.  People talked about Sweden early on but forget that we followed the same approach as Sweden with it being advice only.  People ignored that advice though so we had to bring actual laws in enforce the lockdown, in Sweden then (generally) followed it.

Incidentally, those who kept pushing Sweden have been very quiet lately.

As you say it's not only population, density it's the culture of the people and how compliant they are with following government guidelines early on this fell apart in England with BLM marches in the middle of a lockdown and minority groups doing their own thing.

The morbidly obese have been placed ahead of the normal elderely apparently in the vaccine queue. I know a minority have conditions that cause them to obese so fair enough but many are just greedy swines. What a joke.

Sorry they wont be prioritised AHEAD of the elderly but bunched in with them. So someone who is self-indulgent and irresponsible will get the vaccine before anyone who takes care of themselves.

I get the indignation I'm a pensioner myself but these walking tubs are more likely to curl their toes up than I am so I understand the reasoning behind it.

A bit like how Leicester who have been in lockdown or Tier 3 since March, through complacency, but will get mass vaccinations first.

We only followed the advice only route for a week, then the enforcement route was followed.
It's pretty clear now that the poorer areas of the country have been hit hardest, that is down to multiple factors, denser population, poor education, obesity, type 2 diabetes, poor hygiene, it's not really a surprise is it.

I’d throw in work factors too.

There will be many in those disadvantaged areas who work in far from pleasant environments without the luxury of working from home. They also cannot afford to be off work.

Horrible for some.

Good point Liam, the cruel thing with this virus is that if one person brings the virus into the home, pretty much everyone will get it, as you make the point very well, some people work in some high risk workplaces.

I suspect the instructions will be "get the vaccine out there as fast as you can" following broad guidelines, over selection of candidates will just lead to delay, the sooner we hit a 50%+ vaccination point the better.

Agreed . The guidelines of frontline workers , seriously at risk then by age groups seems the most practical

Regarding the timetable of vaccinations, this is how it's been reported in The Telegraph.

Who will get the vaccine first?
The provisional timetable - which depends on the authorisation and arrival of millions of vaccines, is as follows:

Care home residents and staff, healthcare workers - from beginning of December;

Ages 80 plus - from mid-December;

Everyone aged 70-80 and ‘clinically extremely vulnerable’ people from late December;

Everyone aged 65-70 - from early January;

All high and moderate risk under 65s - from early January;

Everyone aged 50-65 - from mid January; and

Everyone aged 18-50 - from late January; but with the bulk of this group vaccinated during March.
