They didn’t have to extend themselves in any way and, as is often the case in those circumstances, you get a boring watch.
But that is normal in most matches. A winger/wingback has space in front of him, but 9 times out of 10 he will pass back to the centre back

I know nowadays possession is everything, but all the sideways and backwards passing bores the pants off me. Even the so called progressive players won't take a chance on a forward pass.

Finally got into the game last 15 minutes
Our left side have got into some decent positions and the crossing has been woeful from Phillips and Townsend
BTA has a decent chance he should at least work the goalkeeper followed by a chance for yokuslu who puts it over
Promising last 15 minutes, thing is I can see them scoring at least one more
With very few attacking options I’d maybe consider Pipa for furlong for the last 20 minutes if it stays the same
I'd swap Furlong for Pipa now. Furlong has been awful

Did you know: Clive ( chippy ) Clark was the first player player to score a goal in a League Cup Final played at Wembley. 1967 was the first Wembley League Cup final before that the final was played over two legs  ( home and away ). Yes we lost 3-2 to QPR  >:(
Yes I was there as a 14 year old. The memory of the QPR fans chanting "Rodneee" as they overturned our 2-0 lead has scarred me since

Gera for me. Best midfield pairing was Mulumbu and Yacob - complemented each other so well

I guess you could count Irish as foreign!!  I'd hardly call Jayson one of our best foreign signings though but each to their own.
I think he probably means Mulumbu

What does Grealish bring to the team? He passes back more than Furlong

He was poor in several ways last night , his first touch was abysmal indeed he looked out of his depth as well as out of position
We looked much better at Preston playing without a recognised striker/target.

I remember we used to have to play on a pitch of broken glass shards.

In our bare feet an' all.
Don't forget clearing the dogs turds as well

The German FA have long admired Klopp.

Smith signed Maresco on a free who we then sold for a few quid enabling Megson to rebuid the team.
I remember seeing Denis Smith at a book signing in the club shop. He was sitting at a table with a pile of books, in a full shop, with not a soul wanting a signature

Just watched some you tube, and he actually passes forward, not just sideways and back

The fax machine is the problem - nowadays everyone else is scanning the documents and using emails

That could have been a funny reply if people didnt understand 'a clean sheet ' in football terminology. I don't have to explain do i?
I remember Nick Hancock saying to David Seaman "How does someone named Seaman keep so many clean sheets"

Would have taken that result before the game.

The defence is absolutely killing me though - just a walking calamity and causes us so many problems when we have the ball as well as when we don't have the ball.  It's easy to think about how they can cause us too concede, but it hampers us so much when we have the ball as well.

Nobody played well.  A few played badly.
Palmer played we'll, saved the point

We'll two hours ago I would have snatched your hand off for a 1-1

I would definitely put Pardew instead of Buckley

Definitely do the Burton one - 20 minutes walk from my house  :)

Have we any plans to introduce safe standing now that it's being introduced at other grounds?

Mind you we probably can't afford the changes

I dont think were doomed at all
I would like to see the Kipperman alongside DoS and young Caleb as a back 4 with Townsend with Kipre lcb
JL OY TGH SWIFT
BATMAN + ANO
Hows that for starters
Plus Wallace & Diang
Thats a good 442 with 2 breaking from midfield to support front 2
Palmer ss number 1

I managed to work out Kipperman and Batman but who is ANO?
