West Bromwich Albion (R)
Have to agree, no making up that points gap.

Are there any facts that show us being miles better under Allardyce?
Let me take a stab at this....
1. we have more wins.
2. we are playing better now than under Bilic based on points return.
3. we finally attracted a defensive midfielder that is talented and has been needed for 2 years.
4. SA managed to improve the quality of the team with almost no money instead of wasting millions on an extremely average Mr Grant.
5. Quality of performances have improved ( see #3 and #4)

We re still going down but at least there's some fighting spirit in the team now.

wow if Sheff Utd beat Southampton we'll be starting against the Toon as the bottom club.
How did that happen?

That’s why he’s on loan, useless

Useless? Thats harsh, he's the only striker we have that looks like scoring during a game.
If that shot had gone in and not hit the bar you'd be singing a different tune.

He also had finances to buy the players he need at those clubs to get them out of trouble, here that was never going to happen so its down to his (or little Sams) coaching ability.

I think thats fair to say about finances. There isnt ANY coach that could right this sinking ship with the ridiculously low finances we offfered Sam in January.  I actually think its impressive we managed to sign the players we did.

We have a championship defence in the Premier League. The writing was on the wall last season.

I can just imagine what Big Sam will say after swapping shirts and laughing with the other players. It won't be pretty after that performance.

Total ****. Worst team in years

IMO This is not someone we need.  Does he improve the team? Is he better than what we have?
I don't think so.

You have become the voice of reason Jacko. I find myself agreeing with most of your posts and in game comments. :D

I think we find out today. This will be the third opportunity to pick Pereira. If he benches him for the third time running then I think that does start to be a signal.

Just a theory but I could see Pereira being sold to finance some incoming players. Survival is all that matters to the ownership this year.

10 men behind ball against Arsenal and hope players do their jobs, keep it tight and put another point on board. Sam clearly doesn't rate this lot so damage limitation until he can bring in player's he can trust.
I don't think much of most of them either. Poorly assembled team that will be lucky to stay up.

Can’t believe that Ivan The Terrible is being suggested for a recall. I have rarely seen a player who is less ‘finished’. You can see it in his face - he knows the game is up. Been a fantastic player but at 36 I think he’d struggle even playing a few divisions lower. Liverpool would destroy him.

Completely agree, off the pace, poor positioning and just bad all around.
Stealing a wage with us.

Maybe I'm crazy but I'm not sure it would be wise to sack Bilic after a result against Man City.
I would think with a local derby this weekend he would be given a final chance for 3 points.
Putting that game aside who would want to come here with the financial restrictions and the lack of quality in the current squad.
We are not cut adrift yet and a win puts us back in with a fighting chance.

Please someone buy us and invest in the team.

I like Bilic but I reckon depending on the result of the Spurs game it could be his last.  A good performance or result will delay any movement but another sh*t show or heavy defeat and its all over.

Chelsea may set  a new scoring record against us. Can't see us losing by less than 5.

Just my take; I've never once professed to be an expert... but get Grady!!!!

As a fellow non expert i fully agree, sign Grady now!

« on: August 27, 2020, 03:28:03 PM »
I'm going to say NO to selling Pereira. We already have a weaker team than when we won promotion. He is one of the more talented players we have so selling him would make us even weaker. There is no guarantee we could bring in better players even with that much cash to spend.
If we fail to stay up he will still have huge value to sell next season.

I've been a fan since the 70's and I'm pretty sure I have felt this emotional in all that time.
Congratulations Albion !!!!

I'm sure we are all nervous about the outcome of the next game but I wanted to share something that appears during interviews with many sports people in similar high pressure situations.
One question that is almost always asked is " Are you nervous about the coming event/game/performance?"
Whereas we may well say Yes, it seems professional athletes tend to say they are not nervous but instead they are EXCITED about what is to come.
Lets hope the Albion players are feeling excited about Wednesday.

I think I'd be offering Chris Brunt another year if we fail to win the playoffs.

Bartley's ineptitude could cost us promotion.

Hmmm.. Not defending Bartley but his goal line clearance saved us from losing.  Just saying.
Also if we scored one or two of those chances, which I think my granny could have, we probably wouldnt be having this conversation.
Look at how many games we have drawn this year and one more goal would have given us 3 points.
I think I'd be questioning the players up front before blaming one player for a misfiring TEAM performance.
