Expect us to play a 4-2-3-1:
Krul
Marshall Klose Hanley Stiepermann
Tettey Trybull
Hernandez Pukki Mclean
Rhodes
We play a heavy-possession style, short passing game, based on tiring out the opposition to win the game in the later stages. At this stage the team is still settling in with most Norwich fans cautiously optimistic that a play-off race is achievable.
Strengths:
Hernandez - Could be a real player for us this year. Fast, skillful, and can finish with an Earnshaw-esque celebration to boot.
Rhodes - Looks a lot slimmer and fitter and exactly what you need as a lone-front man. Wins and directs his headers to link up play, runs all day, and a true poacher in the box.
Mclean - Capable of leading the one-two passes that had us dominate Birmingham in the last 20 minutes of the game, similar in fashion to what Forest did to you in the first half last night.
Weaknesses:
Left-back - An absolute glaring weakness that is asking to be exploited. Our first-choice LB is an academy player who may/may not be back in time and if so we'll either have Husband or Stiepermann playing, both are woeful. Barnes or Phillips would have a field day if aware.
Playing out from the back - Our center defenders have clearly been instructed to play out from the back rather than play hoof-ball. Nice in theory, but this often leads to Grant Hanley giving the ball away in dangerous positions, especially with Gayle around. Press us high, and this will lead to opportunities.
