The new signings look very good. The squad still needs additions with a new striker, wideman, central midfielder and left back, but the likes of Holman, Ahmedi, Bannan and Ireland are linking up very well. Actually playing football after tweleve months.

Vlaar looks a good signing. A beast of a man and a leader. He is on less than s**** like Collins, which is testament to the level of dross that is making an exit this summer.

Multi Oscar-winning, filthy-rich Hollywood legend Tom Hanks declared this week that, despite his many achievements, his life would be incomplete without Aston Villa or, more specifically, a trip to Villa Park. [Huh? ???]

The Forrest Gump and Apollo 13 star took time out to watch Villa beat draw [sorry, "penalties for funsies" doesn't count] Portland Timbers during their pre-season tour of the USA and, after their 5-4 victory on penalties, declared his love the club he has supported for ten years.

"My life will not be complete until I'm at Villa Park," Hanks said. "I want to be rooting on the claret and blue to a magnificent win over those suckers [suckers?] like Stoke City or Wolverhampton Wanderers or Queens Park Rangers."

That's just sad in so many ways.

Randy Lerner wants to sell his NFL club because the appeal of being a perennial loser has finally worn off.

Holmgren said Lerner's interests had changed during the years and the owner had told him a while back that while he loved the team, he would consider selling if a reliable buyer came along. "All the stars aligned in the last few months," Holmgren said.

He still will be a perennial loser as he still owns those ****** down the road. Hopefully he turns the villa into the Browns as well the most boring unsuccessful franchise in sports history.

The only thing I remember the Browns for is when one of my hero's John Elway took the Denver Broncos from their own goal line all the way down the field for a points equalising touchdown in the last 5 minutes of a playoff game against The Browns in the 80's. A game famous for what was known as "The Drive" ! Denver went on to win the game in overtime with a fieldgoal. I can remember watching it live on channel 5 back in the day.

Elway was fantastic that day......a legend.

I hate vile fans with a passion but this couple of bad years they have had as shut them up to a degree.
I now find them incredably boring but the season is very close and i should be  back to hating all things claret and blue and back to normal.

At work I was telling a seal about how they were lucky to stay up last year, true to form his hands shoots out "I bet £100 we finish above you"
I replied back with " you won't even be the top team wearing purple and baby blue"
Cue silence
