Well the line up for their last game was hardly mouthwatering:

22 Guzan
02 Hutton
03 Warnock
05 Dunne
06 Collins
10 N'Zogbia
12 Albrighton
16 Delph
19 Petrov
14 Delfouneso
18 Heskey

I liked N'Zogbia as a player, but he really has been very poor so far at Villa.

Well they have had to sell their star assets (real matchwinners) to bring back the money from their flirt with 4th spot a couple of seasons ago and they haven't really replaced them. Granted N'Zogbia is a good player but he has done nothing this season.

Still that team is better than a few teams in the division and they are very lucky that is the case.

Without the likes of Young and Downing their squad is much much weaker however

Stoke and Chelsea away next for the Villa.

Lose both those and the heat will be turned up a little.

He looked ok against Stoke.

Feel Villa will finish just above the drop this season and then it will be a big summer for them, either rebuild or get rid of Eck.

I have been predicting vile for the drop this season since the start , the only problem is that bolton , blackburn and wigan appear hell bent on keeping them up.
Hopefully the rumours are true and bent is going to qpr  ;)

Unless Villa bring in some decent players, they could be heading for the drop next season, I bet the wish they still had players like Cahill.

Someone will need to explain the concept of relegation to Randy Lerner.  :D It's not the NFL, where his club can be terrible year after year and still get all the TV money.

Villa won't go down, there's quiet a few bad teams in the league this year, and i'd be amazed if at least one of the promoted sides doesn't crash and burn second half of the season. I'd say Swansea are most likely candidates.

Next season might be a worry for them but this season I think they'll be much the same as last.

Chelsea up next for Villa then Swansea.

Please Swansea beat them.

If they lose those two it's going to start to get fun. :D

This is from last week. but missed it at the time.  It looks like it's all going smoothly at the Villa:

Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish has urged Stephen Ireland to create headlines on the pitch following the appearance of a controversial photo on Twitter.

It shows Ireland wearing silver snakeskin trousers, with a smoking pipe in one hand and a drink in the other.

McLeish said: "You don't want to be bringing attention to yourself. It is not something I want to be discussing."

He added: "Was it a shisha pipe [Arabic smoking pipe] or something? I don't know what is in that stuff. For all I know he could have been blowing bubbles into it or something.

"We know that he has not really done himself total justice in a Villa shirt. There is still a chance for him, there is still a chance for everybody.

Bad defeat for the Villa today, Swansea were very good today I've been told.

I've seen Swansea twice now once against us and I went today against the villa.

Villa were poor no doubt about it but Swansea made the most of it and should have maybe had one or two more.

Villa seem to set up to draw the game and when the away team score within four mins of start of play (both halves) it becomes difficult.

They've got to be worried when there best attacking player today was a centre back covering at right back. Cuellar was there best player who went off injured.

Not bad enough to go down but they will struggle  :D

Villa seem to set up to draw the game

Sounds familiar.

Every time I've seen them this year, that seems to be the tactic from Mcleish.
