I agree, but usually this stuff is the beginning of the end for players like him. Maybe his 1 year deal is heavily incentivized, maybe there's a break clause etc. The usual route from here is playing for 1 year at a time in obscure places like Cyprus, the Turkish 2nd division and Indonesia before retiring for good at age 33.

It's actually a 1+1 but doesn't say who has the option. More free money for him anyway

My Grandad lived opposite the Tilted Barrel pub in Princes End and my Dad was born and raised in that house . They knew Alec and Grandad told me that Alec liked a pint before a game . A couple of times he caught the same bus as us to go to the match.( we used to go very early to go into the Hawthorns Hotel) ) I never knew whether the pint before the game was true but I do remember he would often be very red faced  within 5 minutes of kick-off. ;)
God bless Alec , I loved ya!

Former Baggie Alec Jackson as sadly passed away. The Tipton born player was 86. I knew Alec on a personal level and he was a smashing down to earth proper black countryman.R.I.P. Alec.

Pretty sure Alec Jackson used to drink in the sun in Tipton (unless I’m mixing up names with another ex player). Not seen him in for a while but people spoke highly of him.

RIP

I'd forgotten all about him, wasn't he lauded as the next big thing of Scottish football?

Seem to remember we were hoping he'd be the new Graham Dorrans. One that didn't quite come off. Looked his stats up earlier and he scored one goal for us in the stiffs during a 3-1 home victory over Norwich in a midfield which also included George Thorne and Sam Mantom.
It doesn't matter how many resources you have.
If you don't know how to use them, they will never be enough.

Strange player. I remember seeing him play on loan for Portsmouth  on tv and he was outstanding. One of those that had tonnes of ability but couldn’t ever do it with anything like the required consistency.

Old news now but i've only just seen it.

Despite making just 1 appearance for them in 3 years, Crystal Palace gave Nathan Ferguson a new 1 year deal in June.

Had a bad injury last season and seems to have struggled to get over it, dropping down a division probably the best thing for him purely to get games.
