Very good piece as usual with TP. Always comes across well in those sorts of interviews. If there's one thing I admire about him it's his honesty and down to earth style. Spoke very highly of our academy and youth players. Interestingly was saying similar in another thread about buying some experienced older players to help the youngsters to develop, who will eventually take their places. Mentioned that we struggled with a winning mentality also and that the short term plan was to shake up the dressing room. Long term to bring in more quality. It's on BBC iplayer if anyone missed it

Thanks Dan
Found the expression 'once you ask them to give something back they cant do it' when added to him saying 'all they have ever done is take' when talking about up coming young players.
Easy to put a name to that thought

He makes a good point there about them thinking they've made it when they've not done anything. Simply because we have to tie them down to good contracts to stop the bigger teams poaching them. Can see how it would be difficult to motivate a 15/16/17 year old who's already on a few thousand a week.

Bit in bold, honestly I was thinking of Leko. The comments he made were something along the lines of they come on, run around a bit have a few nice touches and think they've made it, but they have no match winning experience. He also said that we need to be sending them out on loan earlier on in their career so that they get used to the winning mentality

I think this should be made compulsory viewing for the Pulis knockers, because it shows exactly what he is about and its very hard to find fault with anything he said.

As much as his style deserves criticism at times, I do think in interviews Pulis comes across very well.  Even in his post match interviews he's honest and his comments are usually along the same lines as my thoughts after watching the game.  It's not often he's said something like "we've taken the game to them and been unlucky" when in reality we've been played off the park.

It was a great watch and a small insight on Pulis thoughts on our youngsters but even if we won trophies the Pulis knockers wouldn`t relent because that seem`s to be there vocation in life

I have been anti TP, but acknowledge that he has been good for the club overall, it is true however, that there are aspects of his management which still baffle me and Yet I have to acknowledge that he gives good press.

Interesting that he mentioned the young players coming through and really wanting them to make it into the first team. I know he wants signings but I wonder if he isn't padding out the squad too much because of the youth team lads.

It was a good watch and as a past Pulis knocker it was interesting to try and understand his thoughts. I see the logic of what he's saying. He also said that he'd like to leave all his clubs better than when he took over and if he was tonleave today he'd leave us in a far better position than when he started.

The caption that came up while part of it was on said "The Saturday Men, 1962, BFI National Archive", but I don't know if it's on the internet anywhere to be found

Edit: I looked it up and it was surprisingly easy to find: http://player.bfi.org.uk/film/watch-the-saturday-men-1963/
