Huge game in the grand scheme of things.
Particularly with the other games at the weekend being Preston (8th) v Hull (6th) and Norwich (7th) v Sunderland (10th)

Win and Coventry are almost out the playoff race, puts the pressure back on the chasing pack for Sat aswell.
Draw and it's not the end of the world, but leaves us vulnerable depending on other results
Lose and Coventry close to within 2 points, leaves the door open for the others to gain or pass (Hull) us.

Hopefully the takeover has us all in good singing spirits as we'll need to bring the noise on Friday to get us over the line I feel.

Prediction:
A very nervy WBA 2-1 win

Deal officially done. No messing.

https://www.wba.co.uk/news/karlan-grant-joins-cardiff-loan

Words from Cardiff OS below

Speaking at Cardiff City Stadium after completing his loan move, the striker said: “I’m absolutely delighted. I can’t wait to meet my new teammates and the manager, and get started.

“I spoke with the manager, and he said nothing but good things about the Club. I know how big the stadium is, and I know how good the crowd can be. I’ve got a few friends here as well.

“Callum Robinson and I got on really well when we were at West Brom, and we’re actually still very close. He’s a good friend of mine and we complement each other when we play together, so hopefully we can replicate that.”
Karlan Grant

no brainer - off the books and away from the dressing room with the attitude.

Given that Cardiff are not able to pay for transfer or loan fee's due to the embargo I'd like to think we at least said to them "you can pay his whole wage then" instead of a wage percentage + fee.

If we're being honest, this extends to the fans aswell - We have chants for Regis and Astle. Pretty sure we don't have (an active) one for Bomber right now?

Do any of the older heads on here who saw him play remember any of the old Bomber chants we can start using again?

Both home and away shirts look cheap and garish - total disregard for continuity and tradition. They must be training wear.  Away shirt looks like vomited korma. Home shirt look like it belongs in Junior football.  Deliberately different to make us cough up more money?  Now I know we're totally skint.

Expect The Hawthorns to be renamed The Armitage-Shanks Sanitary ware stadium next

I do on occasion not detect sarcasm/trolling when it's in text format only but....you are trolling right? Or did I slip into another dimension where the home kit was announced and I missed it ::)

If we were in a better financial position I'd be hoping for us to mutually part ways with him to just get shot of him - alas, we're not in a position to do that (i.e. no money to pay him off) and so we're lumbered with him, as; quite rightly; no other club in their right mind will want to buy him off of us, particularly with the kind of wages he'd be wanting.

Maybe we can somehow entice Stoke to buy another dud from us or something...  ::)

Glad to see us mixing it up with the away colours a bit - I quite like both of them.

No doubt the negative noreens will be out shouting that they are not green and yellow stripes.

If we get anything close to £4-5m we'll have done well, if we get add ons and/or sell on clause aswell then bonus.

Thinking we'll get anything more than that is a pipe dream and even what I've said above is "if we do well", we'll more likely get £2-3m for him.

I think people forget just how young he is to be honest. He's still got plenty to work on, but if he can harness that raw strength and enthusiasm for the game that he's shown so far then he'll do well (hopefully with us).

Both he and BTA could be a real force to be reckoned with if we develop them both correctly.

If we can keep this man fit for the remainder of the season we'll easily be in the play offs. Had a bit of a shakey start to the season but has been excellent for us since CC came in - long may it continue.

I feel nothing but vindication for my (often deleted from this thread) opinion of him after basically being shut out by CC since his arrival ;D

Might get the game against Chesterfield (which is about his level) but beyond that I hope we don't see him play for us again. Who knows, maybe some crazy manager out there wants to take him off us for a minimal fee in Jan.

He's an expensive bit part player who is only going to see game time if Dike and/or BTA are injured. Have seen nothing to suggest he will fit in to the system CC has setup.

I think we just need to cut our losses and get him off the wage bill at this point, though it's not likely we can do that in Jan (who would take him), perhaps in the summer we can sort something out.

They were not aimed at Grant specifically.

The booing 100% was the reaction to taking the 2 best players on the pitch off, when we're desperate to get a win.

If they'd been bought on for any of our lethergic (and blowing out their backside) midfielders like Jake, Yok or Phillips, then there would not have been that reaction.

Lastly, this is the Callum Robinson thread, which I honestly dont understant why it isn't closed (or moved to "other" category now he's gone?)

I was in the East Stand and I thought they announced the attendance at 17,000 +.

But haven't seen any official figure published yet

nothing official released, but not a chance the attendance was above the 10k mark, East & West were about 60-75% full but with the Smethwick closed and barely anyone in the Brummie it was probably more likely 7-8k (probably 7k if you thought you heard 17k on the awful PA system?)

It's been there for the last few home games

Not enough drink stalls for the amount of people in there, don't even remember seeing any food stalls at all and the "big screen" they've put in the corner to show the football is about 1/3rd the size of the old one that used to be on the back of a truck so no one can see the screen if you are more than a couple rows back.

They have put a new kids 1 v 1 football "dome" in there which is a nice idea, but again, you've got hundreds/thousands of fans potentially going through there, so only 2 at a time is not reralistically useful.

Honestly disappointing

what must TGH be thinking when seeing Reach (Midfield) and Phillips (out of position at RB) brought on ahead of him... criminal he didn't get on the pitch ahead of either of them today.

The 3rd kit is frankly the best of the 3 this season so I'm happy to buy it.

The Home kit is ok, but the Away kit this season is honestly the worst we've had in a while with it's weird, faded box incomplete stripes and empty norwich looking back panel. I'm honestly proper gutted that they chose that monstrosity as the tribute to Regis - should have gone with a more classic looking design like the ones he actually wore.

They have slowly released the tickets block by block, starting with lower centre, lower wings, upper centre then upper wings. Seems there's a few too many left to sell it out now tbh but would be nice to get close

I was initially surprised they weren't going to keep it open for buying a ticket on the day as they may get a few through the door who decide last minute, but then having a think for more than 10 seconds about it, that's a recipe for disaster against the Wolves as their fans (who want the whole Smethwick as it is) will just buy tickets in our end.

A shame really.

Still plenty of tickets left in the East Stand upper blocks but lower is sold out totally by look of it. Just got a couple tickets myself and looking forward to it. Would be nice if we could sell out the East Stand for it!

Really good news with the new pricing structure (and in conjunction with the Fanzone returning).

Now we just need to improve some of the stuff on the pitch too.
