If he didnt make the odd mistake and if his distribution was great he also wouldnt be at this club.

I wouldnt say he is the best LB in the division but he definately is not a million miles away.

Picked the wrong team, simple as and the performance showed it. Worst from CC for a while but he cant be great every single week. Onto the next COYB.

We should be several goals behind so to be level is an absolute result so far. We will lose this the way things are going.

Not sure the playing out from the back is the right thing to be experimenting with in this situation.

They have some good attacking threats from the bench with Sinclair, Willock and Dykes all decent. I would be bringing Semi on for either Pieters or Reach and reshuffle to suit.

Awful first half but our quality puts us 2 -1 up.

Would like to see Reach and Pieters off. The left side is atrocious.

CC needs to give them all a rocket regardless

Nothing to do with the goals from both teams so far but we have a LCB and LB who cant run, basically the left hand defensive side of the team is non-existant. You can have one defender who cant run and people can cover but two next to each other is suicide and should not have been allowed to happen. They can run their right hand side knowing they can out pace us in attack and defense. If you have to play Reach at LB you need someone quick like Ajayi next to him to cover.

Picked the wrong back four in my opinion but we all knew he couldnt resist picking his favourite Reach at LB and not someone mobile like Pipa. Lets hope that now we are in front they dont have to run around too much and can just stand and defend.

Would it help if the FL split totally from the the PL?
FL would participate in its own tournaments - league championship and knockout cups - and refuse to promote clubs to the PL or to accept relegations from there.  The FL would negotiate separately and independently of the PL with the TV companies and have or more even distribution of prize and TV money over the 3 leagues.

In this isolated state the PL would go in the direction of sterile, predictable competition it is becoming with the cups always shared between 4 or 5 teams. Interest would drop.

Maybe the FL could persuade UEFA to split the entry into their competitions between the two League systems.

Luton would definately take this scenario, PL forever and guaranteed riches for their 10k capacity ground and fans.

They have big early calls to make, there are so many players out of contract that their futures need addressing. I think some of the kids decisions will be really interesting.

Players out of contract in the summer:

Alex Mowatt, Cedric Kipre, Matt Phillips, Erik Pieters, Ethan Ingram (on loan at Salford), Jovan Malcolm, Adam Reach, Martin Kelly, Kyle Bartley, Nathaniel Chalobah, Yann M'Vila, Reyes Cleary, Ted Cann, Josh Shaw, Reece Hall, Jamie Andrews (on loan at Grimsby), Brad Foster, Aaron Harper-Bailey, Layton Love, Narel Phillips, Fenton Heard and Ruben Shakpoke

Noticably worse after he went off on Friday, for all the moaning we are much worse without him in the team. Pieters who can barely jog let alone keep up with speedy wingers is not an option and to be fair neither is Reach. Pipa surely is the best alternative even if he is an 100% match for LB role.
