It may not all be down to what we are doing wrong and what Blues are doing right. Moving to a 'big' club is a big step when you're 16. It does seem glamorous moving to Barcelona or Man City and Barry and Rogers have obviously seen it that way. Barry may take to it but also he may get home sick and find it difficult.
The pull of staying in the home environment around family and mates may be what's made Bellingham decide to stay at Blues as much as anything blues have done.

It is entirely possible that it is just that Adder, however in recent seasons, Blues have been able to convince Butland, Redmond, Gray and now Bellingham to stay at the club, whereby they have then gone on to get a big fee, where as we have had to lose Brown, Sinclair, Dhanda, Roberts, Rodgers, Barry and Smith in the same period.

It could be a coincidence, or there could be a pattern. It's something for the club to consider at the very least.

Rogers is the 2nd highest price out of any of those players, with Roberts being roughly the same price as Nathan Redmond (estimated at 2.5 million). Butland (3.8 ), Gray (4.5) and Redmond (2.3) make up about 2/3 of the money we got from berahino.

We've made about as much money off of players in that time period as Blues have, I can't speak for the academy players that have been poached but I'd imagine it would be at a similar level if not more as a Cat 2 academy they have even less protection from bigger club academies.

It's a good point about the fees, but i'd personally argue if you adjust them for inflation (football fee inflation that is), the money blues got for those 3 can probably be doubled in today's market.

Maybe I am looking at it too negatively, but Redmond, Butland, Gray and now Bellingham all played first team football for Blues and it feels blues were able to sell then on their terms, rather than what has happened to us with a few too many of our players who have gone cheaper than we would have liked.

Championship player of the year only 2 years ago and a big part of Brighton’s first couple of pre years. To get him on loan is an immense bit of business. Reminds me a lot of Hernandez’s signing for Leeds, just better.

Fulham will be fearsome again this season.

Will be interesting to see how Derby County do under Phillip Cocu. Cocu won 3 league titles at PSV Eindhoven, and I was expecting a few new Dutch players to have turned up at Derby, but their squad seems pretty much unchanged minus Harry Wilson.

Couple of results. Bristol City lost 5 nil at home to Palace and the other half of the Bournemouth squad did Brentford 3-1.

Brentford have moved quickly to replace Sawyers, using their 2.9 million and spending 1.8 million on Joel Valencia. According to Polish journos, Valencia was probably the top attacking midfielder/winger in their league last year.

He might not work out, but it's interesting to see them have somebody lined yp so quick to replace a player like that, and somebody so obscure. They really are a well run club.

1 nil Boro 7 mins.

Luton getting themselves in all sorts of trouble passing around at the back. So that's that settled then.

But the goal came from the second phase of a set piece. Nothing to do with messing about at the back.

Oh hang on, equaliser, Borough not dealing with pressure
