Man City were excellent today. However the goals they gave away were poor from Uniteds point of view. Interesting to see how United will bounce back from this defeat today.

Funny to see Stoke concede three goals from set pieces today. Arsenal may surprise a few people this season. However it will be how they get on when they play Chelsea, Man City and Man Utd which they haven't got that good of a record in recent seasons.

Man United demonstrating why they won't be winning the league this season. They have a squad, baring two or three players, which are littered with average to good footballers and nothing more than that. Ferguson somehow managed to drag them to their last couple of titles without having a vintage United side at his disposal. Not seen much of United this season but what I have seen I haven't been impressed with. City full deserved their victory today and were a joy to watch.

Similar squad to what they had last season but they had a fear factor due to their manager, with Moyes that fear factor is no longer there. Will be interesting to see how they get on in the coming months but Fergie got out at just the right time.

Ferguson when Utd were in trouble always bought one top quality player who would help them no ends and get them out of trouble (Cantona, Cole, Van Persie) and who has Moyes bought- Fellaini who is good but not Utd class. Moyes needed to buy one world class player really and hopefully for their fans one a year. If I was him I'd build from the back as they have not replaced Van der Sar. Evra, Ferdinand and Vidic are getting older and Moyes needs to build from the back. Jones just does not cut it for me. Oh well- hopefully these frailties will lead to a WBA victory next week. COYB.

They have a run of fixtures which you would expect them to pick up points from. However I think it will be the big games like today which United could look back on next May and say that's where the title was lost. Fellaini is a good squad player but I think United fans would be dissapointed with the signings that they have made in the Summer.

A very good week for Swansea, three great results. Crystal Palace have had a tough start to the season had a good win against Sunderland but could be on for a real struggle this season.

After the Aguerrooooooo climax to 2011 - 12 season, United were ultra motivated to get the title back last year. They really needed to get Fabregas or Ozil to kick on this year.

Got quite a few mixed feelings over his departure - I'm not particularly keen on him as a person but I thought he was an exciting character and football needs characters. Furthermore, he's been left out to dry by the recruitment team at Sunderland who haven't strengthened adequately but given PDC's erratic nature, the move was never going to work.

Di Matteo apparently lined up to what I've seen on Twitter.

RDM was someone I had completely forgotten about until I read your post. Two other names who they could go for and Tony Pulis and Gus Poyet. I also read that Martin Jol was someone been lined up for the job, which I dont think will happen as he is struggling with Fulham. I find it strange how they bring in so many players, and then after five games they sack him. He is a character and you dont know what he will do next, but I think he was taking them down.

They wont be "kicking on" then as Ozil has gone to Arsenal and Fabregas is going nowhere and staying at Barca

TV cameras also showed Alex McLeish at the match yesterday.  He's at 10-1 with the bookies, and Sunderland need someone to shore up their defence...

Yet another Premiership manager has been sacked today (de Canio) immediately after a defeat by the Baggies.  I've lost count now, but how many managers have suffered that fate after losing to us?  Seems to be the final nail in the coffin for lots of managers.

Moyes next week?

It is astonishing how often it happens that a manager gets sacked after losing to us. I think there must be at least 4 or 5 in the last couple of years.

Di Canio is now the latest in a line of managers getting relieved of their duties following a loss to West Brom over the past few seasons.  The media consistantly report these with a tone that West Brom should have been beaten easily.  After good finishes in the Premier for a number of seasons now I am still not surprised at the continued lack of respect shown by the main stream media to the club.  Not sure if same could be said of the clubs removing there managers off the back of it.  Wonder who's next?

AVB, McCarthy, RDM, Di Canio for certain and didn't Hughton go from Newcastle after playing us?

Yes - following day after we beat them 3-1.

Add John Gregory to the list - he went the following day after we beat QPR 5-1.

Exactly. United had surprisingly weak squads during Fergie's last few seasons but SAF himself was worth two or three extra players on the pitch. The refs were scared witless of him just for one thing.

United will probably need a major overhaul - the defence needs fixing as does the midfield, Rooney is unsettled etc.

Almost all of the 50/50 decisions would go their way under Ferguson (and most of the 40/60 ones too)

In what I've seen of Man U. so far this season that isn't happening the way it did

the undue influence he was able to exert on the officials is dissolving

a level playing field and suddenly.....  :D

Tottenham currently one nil up against Chelsea. If they win today then I think that they could be a contender for the title this season. They have haven't conceded a goal in nearly five games now. They have lots of really good options and I think they have been better of so far selling Bale, and bringing in five or six players with the Bale money.

Hull City seem to be playing well but they are getting some very interesting decisions going for them.
Both against Norwich and West Ham they were awarded very soft penalties whilst the opposition were denied stronger claims....the penalties were the only goals in those games too.
