Decent performance and great to get the win.
Thought we looked pretty comfortable throughout, expected more from Palace to be honest they huffed and puffed but that was all.

Great freekick by McClean and great finish by Rondon, a second wouldn't have flattered us and would have made it less stress especially when they put the 5 minutes up at the end!

3 or so decent signings and a win at Palace and the remaining tickets will sell...or even just a win at palace.

i would be in favour of the club imposing standards of behavoir on fans in terms of their output (whether that is in the stands or on social media). This site is very moderate but facebook etc is awful - inaccurate ranting. Children follow the club and they should not be exposed to the sort of vile, violent, abusive language that you see in the comments on so many news stories.

I'd like to see this type of warning given to "fans" in the ground - there's plenty of obscene shouting (often by people who have no clue what they are shouting about). not a place i'd like to bring my daughter.

I get your point but it's an adult environment in the most part and angry/frustrated people tend to swear especially when alcohol is added to the equation.

I would crack down on it in a family section though, hopefully making that a place you would like to bring your daughter.

Just his début and he had a mare. That said we were playing Man City. Bit of a coup for Villa.

Thought he made his debut at right back? I'm sure it was Dawson and Lescott in the middle.

I'd like to see us get rid of Berahino and replace him with Benteke.  Trouble is, assuming that miracle happens we still need at least 1 more striker.

I'd rather we replaced Berahino with a similar type of player, for me Benteke would to too similar to Rondon in style of play.I think we need someone who would compliment Rondon rather than compete with him.

he reffed the charity sheild, 4 yellows. card happy?

He reffed 28 games in Pl last season and handed out 88 yellows, 1 sending off due to 2 bookings and 1 straight red.

Looks like he likes to give out yellows as a way of showing that he's the boss.

He reffed our game 2-2 at Anfield and didn't book anyone...missed a dangerous lunge by  Skrtel on Rondon that should have been a straight red as it was both wild and reckless even though no contact was made.

He only had to give back the bonus he had received.  He's hardly on the breadline, and if he walks he would quickly land a new job

He was ordered to pay Crystal Palace £3.5M which is the original £2M bonus + £1M damages and also both sides court costs.

Now that would be interesting, "wild blackberries growing through iron railings". Just make sure you don't eat mushrooms with spots on  :)
I'm more concerned that the meeting place is in a grave yard!

Isn't it normally seeded early stages?
Yes it depended on league position in 1st round.

It took me far too long to realise this was the League Cup.
Me too I thought this was the same as the EFL trophy but that one appears to be the revamp of the Johnstons Paint Trophy..or am I getting confused?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Reasons to be cheerful
« on: August 10, 2016, 10:25:06 AM »
Ok, here it goes, I think we are in for a better season than what the general feeling seems to be. As always we are very slow with transfer dealings but I think Rondon will improve ( from a good start last season), Morrison will offer something we lacked and Philips will shine. And I do trust the management in bringing in some quality players before September. Top half of the table me thinks... :)

Agreed AND we're getting free scarves and a free drink what's not to be cheerful about? :D

Until Hinkley Point is definitely affecting the club/takeover please refrain from posting about it in the takeover thread. If you wish to discuss it then the news thread in the off topic section is where you need to be. Cheers

« on: August 09, 2016, 12:51:27 PM »
I posted on here this time last year saying that we should have accepted Tottenham's offer for Berahino regardless of what the terms and structure of the payments was and I got totally slated by the majority. That would have been our last realistic opportunity to sell him for anywhere near our asking price. The bloke has only 1 year left on his contract now so who in their right mind is going to take a risk and pay good money for this stroppy, sulking, immature liability? If anyone will be willing to take a risk then it will be next year! We will end up getting absolutely diddly squat for the toss pot now

I'm not so sure, if the Sakho deal had gone through I think he would have been at Stoke now and we'd be about £20M better off.

We shouldn't sell until we have a replacement in as we would be left short of attacking options.

Utterly ridiculous.

Still, no doubt Man Utd fans will be using this as the cue for their annual "this signing will win us the title" line. Turning into Liverpool fans them lot.

he's joined City not United. Think you're confusing your Man Utd with your Man Sh*tty  :D

Brummie Mail wrongly saying that he has claimed to be a fan since 1978 when he was a child, when he actually said he was aware of us as a child due to the 1978 tour and has followed us for a number of years.

Posts will be removed if they are unconstructive and unduly negative, making just reference to the amount of money Peace has made from the club. All opinions of Peace as a chairman are valid but make them constructive.

Bit disappointed... But it's still a big improvement I suppose.
Worrying that some saying he's a tight man and saying he's the Chinese version of JP :(
But suppose he's got his head screwed on more than the new owners of wolves n villa. And suppose slow, gradual changes are better than drastic, big changes.

But if he was behind recent bids, it hasn't gone too well so far

just remember that they know as much about him as the rest of us....very very little.
