Mark Halsey announces Retirement
« on: May 08, 2013, 11:59:23 AM »
Another person announcing his retirement at the end of this season is Mark Halsey. Mark has overcome many battles over the years including throat cancer and also his wife having leukemia. He has been a great referee over the years and has given a great service to football. A great bloke off the pitch too, could not wish to meet a more down to earth guy than Mark.

Mark has always spoke very fondly of WBA and has always enjoyed his visits to the Hawthorn’s over the years.  Should people wish to comment below I will make sure they are passed on to Mark.

Enjoy retirement Mark.

A happy and healthy retirement to Mark and his wife. Certainly one of the 'human' refs who never thought he was more important than the game.

All the best Mark. Comes across a really decent guy and one of the few refs who engages with players rather than the many who come across as ignorant and authoritative school teacher types.

Was brilliant to make his comeback after his illness, definitely one of the 'unfussy get on with the game' type, which we seem to see less of these days, could teach a few of   the up & coming ones that the game is not all about them.

Enjoy your retirement Mark, you've earned it.

Love watching this bloke ref.  So human.  The game will be poorer without him.  But enjoy your well earned retirement.
