Sam Field Joins QPR
« on: August 24, 2016, 09:12:38 AM »
Thought this kid deserved his own thread - he was excellent at Northampton last night, our best player by a country mile. He looks to have a lot of potential, I thought his vision and reading of the game was very good for a young kid.

Hope he gets some more minutes on the pitch for the first team going forward.

Is he what we're missing in central midfield??

I do worry that his development under Pulis could be stifled somewhat, especially attributes such as his vision

How old is he now?
He played with a breathtaking freedom to pass the ball forwards and exhibited a clarity of vision last night that felt totally out of place amongst the turgid dross we have become used to seeing

Calm, composed and polished performance from an 18 year old with a much older head.

Hardly put a foot wrong and for me he looked head and shoulders above both Morrison and then Fletcher.

Very promising player.

Well done that man  8) .

Can we keep him under wraps until the end of the transfer window, please? Can just see the vultures circling.

Glad to see Field doing well.  Met someone at a wedding recently who taught him at Haybridge High School, said you cannot wish to meet a nicer, friendlier, more rounded young man.  They also thought that his temperament was almost too nice and that he might be a bit overawed once he got into the first team picture but obviously that hasn’t been the case, quite the opposite infact.   It’s great to see young players coming through, especially local lads who support the club.

Very encouraging. We've certainly got a good crop of youngsters and its vital that Pulis doesn't suppress them and put them off the game.

Get them all out on loan, they are at a pivotal learning stage, all Pulis will teach them is how to keep team shape when without the ball and coax none of their natural ability to anywhere near potential.  For all of his failings you could see improvements in Berahino's game under Alan Irvine, his movement and runs particularly, his game has regressed under Pulis.

I am not a Pulis fan but isn't he the one actually giving them time in the first team. How is playing them stifling their development.

Encouraging. In fairness to Pulis he has so far been true to his word regarding getting the better young players involved, or out on loan.
I can understand SOME of the negativity towards Pulis but lets not assume he's going to ruin every young player he works with.

In the same breath, he hasnt got much choice as we dont have alot of options.

Field looks a good player, calm on the ball and a good prospect, helps us that he is a local lad and a true baggie.

Hopefully only the start to a bright career with us.

I was also surprised at that thought he might have had the run out over Berahino

I thought he was excellent, head and shoulders best player on the pitch last night, needs time as Premier League football is a different kettle of fish but I would keep him well around the squad as he does have some players there like Fletcher who he could learn a lot from.

i was really surprised how calm he was under pressure, a few times he got closed down and found his way out and generally played a progressive pass from a difficult position. Chuffed to bits for him (apart from the knock obviously)

Think it was just cramp. Nothing major. Bet he hasn't played 120 minutes at that intensity before

Agree that he was a plus, was not exceptional by any measure, but did not at any stage look overawed and cannot help but think he will grow into the role nicely, I was quite impressed by a mature display

Impressive in a very unbalanced midfield and his passing again put the likes of Fletcher and Yacob to shame.
Neat and tidy and never looked out of place.
