Ali al habsi
« on: August 29, 2019, 04:13:21 PM »
been training with us for a week apparently, IF he has anything like his old ability, he could represent the pressure to perform which SJ needs

As above, was very decent in his prime. No idea what he's like now though.

Perhaps he can help by passing on his knowledge?
A tad too old, to play in my opinion.

Always full of confidence as I remember, he could come in at the drop of a hat and not be a bag of nerves I'm sure, what you need in a number 2/3 goalie.

Think it's more to give Johnstone and Bond something to think about...remove any complacency that they might have.

Good backup. Nothing to get excited about but he can do a job.

Good idea the more I think about it. I think hes at least partially been bought in as a senior squad member to provide a bit of leadership/experience and provide a solid backup, but more importantly to help mentor SJ to have more confidence/command his area more. I remember him being a very vocal/commanding goalie, so I can see the logic by Slav, get in a veteran keeper who takes no prisoners and see if it can rub off on him. Could work wonders for Johnstones performances if it works out.

Johnstone seemed to be much more vocal last game, and El Habsi's supposedly been training with us for a short while. Maybe the works already started?

Yep. If nothing else a good player to have in and around the team. Would be able to slot straight in if needed as well you'd have thought.

I hope he is more than a good man to have around, I can fulfill that role a damn site cheaper, he needs to be pushing for a start IMO
