I do these just for fun's every now and then when I'm bored lol.

Ok guys - who is it?

I'm going for Kevin Bartlett - he was a rocket and finished second in some sprint challenge thing. I once saw him on the half way line, he kicked the ball forward and the defender couldn't even be arsed to chase him.

He gets my vote.

Honourable mentions for Peter Barnes ................. (as was always the case with Barnesey, when he felt like it), Laurie Cunningham, Willie Johnston and (a surprise to some I'm sure) Martin Albrechtsen who I remember Henry Camara (a flyer) giving up the chase against.

Over to you lot ............................

West Mids police arrests must be down for the season and need to get there figures up
I certainly hope they are not going back to the policing of the 1970`s  when they would nick anybody
for nothing. I`m sure many people remember those days, me including me.
I`m not anti police but they took the urine in those days.

There was at least 200 of them on the pitch stood in front of us, goading us and throwing things, offering us all on the pitch. They were grappling with stewards trying to get to us. They had NO interest in celebrating. This seems to have been conveniently forgotten about/ignored.
They only got away with it because they knew that the vile stewards would have saved their bacon if we had  confronted them. Sad as it may sound i would loved to have jumped over and called their bluff. Had it  been 40 years ago i would have done it and got stuck in and wiped that grin off the addolescent twats.

Most of us wouldn't be able to get out of bed after the personal tragedies Graham has endured. That he can carry on as a footballer after all of that is testimony to his personal character. I wish him all the best (and it would be awesome if he could still come good for us next year if a permanent deal doesn't get done, not likely under Pulis).
Couldn`t agree more mate what a true pro He sat in the reserves and fought his way back into the first team no moaning just got on with the job.More footballers should follow his example.

The point of the poll is, no matter where you sit, if YOU were asked by the club to move seats to accommodate Safe Standing would you agree to it. Not whether or not you want standing to return.
yes i would move

For balance I think this is worth asking.
Standing for me. Can`t beat the late 60`s in the brummie doing " knees up mother brown ".  Sitting has ruined the atmosphere. It was interesting watching new  people in the smethwick against sunderland  shouting "sit down" .  feck off back to the halfords.

Never used the official coaches from the club before, have people had good or bad experiences on the whole? How long before kick off do they arrive and is there air con & toilets on board?
They must have improved by now . i remember in the early 70`s  as a spotty adolescent nightmare using the "GLOBAL DOUBLE DECKER BUS"
( hence my user name )  air con was a sliding window & the toilet was a mop bucket under the stairs.  happy days

Great memory's of the KING on the pitch & in the pub, the most down to earth chappie you could wish to meet.
He always had time for the fans & had a great sense of humour. i remember him in a pub at highbury before an fa cup semi final against ipswich  he was hero worshipped by the fans. he loved it  and was signing autographs for all the time he was in the pub.

Couldn`t agree more mate . There are plenty of things wrong at the club but there`s nothing we can do to change it at the moment. so we should all get behind the team. i`ve been going up the albion for 50 odd years now so i`m used to it.
i think slagging ridgy is a disgrace he runs his nuts off every game. he`s a true pro. also he`s a very generous chap outside football, not a lot of people know that.  i still do my bit of shouting but get funny looks at my age, you wouldn`t want to sit by me. Good job  i sit in the smethwick !

Before todays game they had a feature on Radio WM about things you miss about matchdays. One that came near the top was Liquidator before the match (shared by a few Dingles no doubt). Wondered what other people missed
Throwing a bog roll.  The pleasure when you threw one to reach the pitch  . i remember some games you could not see the back of the goal net

was also at both games in the rainbow for millwall ,the lad on the video who gets knocked out was a Millwall fan ,So they didnt have it all there own way ,and after near the town centre a mini bus of them pulled up to have a go at The Albion ,and they definitely came unstuck as did Some Leeds outside the ground and agree with Turkish ,the only time have have been really scared at a game was Boro away i was 14 they were in our end and this one Albion lad by me was hit with a firemans axe across the top of his leg ,we left at half time ,i remember saying to a copper why are they in our end to which he replied serves you right for coming here oh happy days  ;D
I remember that boro away game. Borough fans were in or section and old bill were just letting them attack us at will & laughing. As soon as we tried to have a go back  old bill would step in & then let boro fans smack us. i complained to one copper & he told me" if i knew what was good for me i should get out of the ground like the rest of your morons."  this boro fan took a swing at me so i ducked and got a good shot in . a copper frogmarched me out & put me on the coach ( this was about 10 mins before half time)  i think most of the albion fans were already on the coaches.

KEVIN PHILLIPS

I Love this bloke and will forever remember his time at the club...Legend of the game, former European Golden Boot winner and a great great player over the years..

Goals goals goals

Tek'a'boo Son

that forward line of  Kevin Phillips and Dio Kamara would grace this team....

still playing at a top level at 39....so those knees were bad then Albion?!!!!...biggest mistake we ever made letting him go, ruined promotion for me when he was not kept on
super kev is one of the the last honest footballers. When he walks on the pitch he talks to everybody with genuine interest he loves the game & and i can`t imagine anyone bearing a grudge against him. God knows what he thinks about wingies attitude.  `i`m sure that if king Jeff ( god rest his soul ) and bomber would be the first to sign up for his testimonial.

I suppose that Olsson's direct abusive behaviour towards fans will be passed over, and Odem being ill-advised and wanting a better future for himself being unforgiveable.

What is happening at our club? Why boo Walker all second half??? He didn't make Popov spit at him!

Odemwingie was just the man to bring on today  :P.

I'm counting down the weeks until it will all be forgiven with Pete - it can't come soon enough.

Makes me laugh that people were chanting 'there's only one greedy ((&*^*^%', oh how fickle we are.

We did the same to Lee Hughes, yet when he came back from Cov we adored him again. Stop being fickle and just get behind him until the end of the season. We have no pace in our side in midfield if he doesn't play (as Clarke has forgot about using Thomas).

I was surprised to find out that he wasn't the top earner at the club this week! We need to forget the past and get behind him for the next few months, or this could get very ugly...

At least olsson has has said sorry on twitter. i remember willy johnson would stick his two fingers up when  he took the ball too far.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: My Greatest Bomber Brown Goal
« on: November 08, 2012, 05:49:48 PM »
Having started watching The Baggies from The Watney Cup final loss to Colchester in 1971, was thinking about the most important goal Bomber scored that affected me?

Of course the Oldham goal in 1976, the 1-0 win against Everton in the FA Cup replay in 1974 (where Willie Johnston got sent off for a massive punch up with Archie Styles .. I think) to name a couple, but the one that meant the most to me personally was the Boxing Day match against Villa in 1973, we had just been relegated and I think Villa had just been promoted from the old 3rd Division. I was at school with a class virtually full of Villa fans.

43,000 packed into The Hawthorns, I was crammed in the Rainbow Stand terrace, near the Brummie Road, level with the Penalty Box.  We attacked the Brummie Road in the first half, after about 20-30 minutes Bomber shot from inside the box, it was pushed up into the air by their goalie (was that Jim Cumbes or was he playing for us).  Bomber followed up the rebound and headed it into the net.

Joe Mayo scored in the second half, after a mazy run by Gordon Nesbit and we won 2-0 (What a great Christmas holiday)

Oh and might as well mention the two goals, a header and a penalty, along with John Wile's header in the return match in March 1974, all at the Holt end.

Bragging rights are so sweet ..... nearly 39 years ago, can't believe it

 8)

I remember  a night game against stoke in the 70`s  he bladdered in a free kick, gordon banks never even smelt it. i think we scored 5 goals that night.

Derby County in about 1970 i was around 15 years old.  Stood on the "pop side" which was shared by home & away fans & was divided by 4 foot railings. There were a good few smacks over the railings, one of which was delivered with good effect by a lad the same age as me who would later  become an albion legend.
Happy days !

I remember the football specials, "fantastic days out ". As the train pulled into the station and before it had stopped the doors would fly open and loads of spotty little kids in doc martens ( me included ) would overtake the train as it was still moving, armed with bog rolls to throw during the game  They would then run riot  through the town abusing the locals on the way to the ground & mopping up any "welcoming locals"
Different story on the way back, they were usually chased back to the station.
I too remember the battles at rolfe st station, oh teenage life !
