On now on ITV 4
I watched it Tuesday night recorded it and watched it again this evening. I must admit it brought me to tears the abuse he and the other lads suffered was disgusting then when i saw Cyrille talking about losing his mate i was even worse thinking you ain't here now either mate. Thanks for the memories the three degrees.

I am sure it has been on before, but caught it again on Monday I think when Peter Reid was on about his England suit.

Still cannot his scummy team mates tried to injure him in training.

His scummy team mate at Real Madrid effectively stunted his career in training. On purpose. What a ****k.

Is there a catch up for ITV4 - can't remember? And yes I know I could have a look on my smart telly but I'm inherently lazy and dependent on this forum.  :)

Laurie was the best player I have ever seen to grace the Blue and White stripes of West Bromwich Albion FC

Wow. 65. Seems like only yesterday when I heard the sad news he'd died in that car crash. What a player. Such a pity we only had him with us for such a short time, both as a player and as a person.

What a player feels like it was just yesterday that I watched him show off those silky skills down the hawthorns.

Meet Laurie on the day he signed for us. Johnny Giles introduced him to us groundstaff lads. I remarked to one of my mates who the hell is this guy cause I have never heard of him. Watched him in training a few days later and  some of the skill he showed was just unbelievable.

They really were.

What great times; Laurie did so well at the Bernabéu but you can't help but wonder what might have been for us.

The fact that we are still in awe of a player that only played for us for 2 seasons over 40 years ago shows what a player he truly was.

I was reading some other fans remarks on Laurie on another site and one said he was not a great player. a very good player yes but that depended on his mood swings. Interesting comment.

Interestingly enough I'd suggest that description would be more fitting of Peter Barnes whose biggest fault beyond being an 'in the mood' kind of player was that he wasn't Laurie Cunningham.

I was reading some other fans remarks on Laurie on another site and one said he was not a great player. a very good player yes but that depended on his mood swings. Interesting comment.

Saw nearly every game he played for us home and away cup and league. He was a player with great skill, pace, instinct and courage. He did not show these attributes in every game I saw, but in most was simply a joy to watch. It should also be remembered that he had some pretty useful performers in the team with him in those days. Not the least of whom were his fellow 'degrees'. Cyrille could be so spectacular, but for me Brendon Batson was simply one of the best full backs I have ever seen in an Albion shirt. Statham was the other one and both in the same team! Then add Bomber, Cantello and Robson as well as a slightly fading Willie j.

Had Laurie been playing for us today, and had a couple of his 'off' days in succession, or as he sometimes did, fail to produce in a big game, no doubt there would have been some posters calling attention to his every mistake, questioning his attitude, his chasing back, his  lightweight defensive work etc. Some would no doubt question if he was worth what we were paying him.

Would I have paid to go and watch him play for a team other than Albion? Certainly I would except for vile or dingles. Even without the blue and white tinted spectacles of my youth, I thought he was a great player at the time, and still do today.
