West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Jake Livermore

Wonder exactly where our fools are and our horses, don't tell me let me guess!
Guess away.
We can laud how nice players are, but is that really what we sign them for?
Many people think zlatan is a bit rogue, Ronaldo seems cocky, but they are winners .

Proved to me he's a caring guy with giving his private box to a young kid last week
Don't forget he's been through difficult times in his personnel family life.
David Jason seems a nice bloke, what size boots does he need?

And that is the big difference!

No, however anyone with a football brain will realise this squad of players is  awful.
There’s more than enough there to get the job done...yes we have some very average players but my god almost anyone could get more out of them.

We need at least four new faces before the end of January if we are to have any hope of finishing in the top six - and one of those has to be a new manager. His tactics and goals for record speak for themselves
We need one new the managers office

Surely in trouble now. 2 wins in 11 apparently, 7 points behind Blackburn. 2 points in front of boro, we’ll be out the play offs by the end of the month.
He really really really needs to go....if he is here in February we have no chance of going up.

Doesn't really matter if we fight back mate. The whole game is set up to aide and favour certain clubs, right from the top. There's no way we as a club can bring the footballing establishment down.
You mean those super galactic is of Cardiff and Brighton ?😀
There’s no way around it...our discipline is slipping, the guy jumping up and down and invading the pitch isn’t setting the best example ?

You are not going to do any better with 2 of the same 3 forwards. It just means less bodies in and around the box, and being more outnumbered than now.
But we need more creativity coming from midfield. We need better midfielders. Only Mowatt offers us this, and that is only when he gets anywhere near the final third. Livermore and Mulumby offer next to no creativity.
You are if it puts an extra man and creates dominance/ creativity in midfield

Liverpool’s 3 and PSG with 3 up front works because of the quality of midfield, we don’t have that , so should be looking to win the midfield area first and transition in to attack.
God we need a sessegnon,Gera, pereria,Texeira, koumas….I can’t think of one central midfielder that can do anything that those guys could, Livermore, mow at, mulumby are dating signs of where we have gone wrong …
It’s not the forwards or defenders, it’s our midfield that is hampering us along with the coach who is out of his depth.

Regardless of current form, I find it difficult to comprehend that some fans are even contemplating Lai is going to dispense of Val anytime soon. Lai agreed Val’s appointment and has just sanctioned a large transfer request  (in Albion terms) from Val for DD. The Chinese are not a race that suffers from “Patellar Reflex” they much prefer a measured and longer term approach.

The owners and the board have too much invested in Val to get rid of him this season, regardless of our current league position, which is reasonable given all considerations.

To those who haven’t read the numerous articles about Val’s appointment, after carrying out due diligence, he was awarded a 4 year contract and it was stated to be a long term project in revamping the playing side of the club and internal structures, if only they had done that before buying the club.

I think the majority of fans only consider the playing side of their club, which is understandable and not unreasonable, but it does neglect to recognise a “helicopter” view of the organisation overall, which is integral to every successful club.

Some fans may want the club to sack Val asap, but it’s just not going to happen imo, as he and the board have already started to reorganise the club’s structure, culture and philosophy from top to bottom and it would be too costly, amongst other things, to “change horses” midstream imv.

Val needs time, his football may not be to everyone’s liking, but at least it gives the club stability, an identity and time to build for the future.
Can’t agree…a broad statement on Chinese methods doesn’t guarantee it extends to each and every one?
All managers are given contracts…very very few see them out or extend, lai will want a return and want promotion, if that starts to look like it’s bit going to happen he will make decisions….and for me that moment is soon.dike may have been his recommendation but you would hope he could still kick a ball under the next manager?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Jordan Hugill joins on loan
« on: January 08, 2022, 02:08:51 PM »
I don't see the sense unless we bring someone else in. I know he's been rubbish but we have no-one else.
An injury to Dike and we could face the rest of the season with Phillips or Zohore up top.
This is the risk with putting all our eggs in the Dike basket, which every oppo manager and defender will be aware of, he gets crocked and we are back to square one with only non-scoring strikers to choose from.
That's why I think Cleary has to start today. If he does and has a decent game, maybe bags a goal, then at least Dike has a bit of competition or, at the very least, some back up.
Has someone kidnapped Robinson, grant, Diangana, cleary,Castro?

I went on to suggest........

'If they pull this off and it's even a remote success they could point to it as forward thinking and ambitious'.

............. so no, not like how Sturridge and Krycowiak did with us as neither signing could be judged as remotely successful.
Has anyone seen his dog?, if so drop it off at any Ladbrokes for him….ta

I think this underlines what I've thought for a good while we have one of the worst fan bases in football. Our support is appalling.

Any excuse not to turn up
No support when we do
Booing when not even behind in games
No atmosphere
About five songs which about 20 people sing

Some of us slag off other clubs but we've no right at all.

If I were a young kid growing up in the West Mids and I had a choice there's no way I'd choose Albion and its nothing to do with the club, the owners or the manager.
It’s your opinion, it doesn’t make you right.
It’s not free to get in, people have just had Christmas/ furlough/rising utilities…etc etc
That’s before you even start with how poor our entertainment rating is..
I’ve had season tickets,I’ve gone to many an away match in rain/snow, I’ve missed important engagements to watch Albion, sat through little, smith,Buckley and Mel, but the current manager and the rubbish he serves up is lower (IMO) value for money than pullis
So please carry on up there, I genuinely hope you have a good day, but my choice to avoid for so many reasons does not make me a poor fan.

Brighton didn't ask for the whole Smethwick End so the max they can bring is 2,700 or if we have given them the usual away allocation it'll be 2,000 max.

Looking at the map I haven't counted but it looks to me that we haven't sold many more, if any, than 1,000 tickets.

It's going to embarrassing regardless of the circumstances.
Our football is not attractive or entertaining, fans “put up” with the league matches out of emotion misplaced loyalty.
When the “bonus” of an extra game, that we have traditionally thrown , on a cold January , against a better team…..well, I won’t be there .

Every time cup games come around these days, there's no shortage of fans advocating that we should pick a weakened side. Clubs won't take cup competitions seriously whilst too many fans are willing accept reserves/youngsters being brought in for the games. Fans need to be more vocal in pressing for due consideration to be given to the FA Cup.

The Arsenal game was an embarrassment where there were no positives at all.
You really belive fans moaning will make a difference?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Alex Mowatt
« on: January 06, 2022, 07:43:47 PM »
Everything looks different if you slow it down. Truth is Mowatt has mistimed his tackle a fraction and that's all it is a fraction. Anyone that's played the game at any decent level understands that, it's all split second stuff.

If you want a red card Mane's arm in the face v Chelsea is a red card, dangerous and reckless. Mowatt's challenge should be a yellow.
Unless it’s a player against us…in which case we would want a red?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Valérien Ismaël - Head Coach
« on: January 06, 2022, 02:33:21 PM »
He didn't instigate anything. He stomped onto the pitch and stomped off again without even doing anything. The players from both sides flew into each other of their own accord.
Cardiff players were clearly holding him back which is when our lot decided they wanted to be involved too.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Sam Johnstone
« on: January 06, 2022, 02:31:37 PM »
Sam seemed to be in full on inebriated off mode most of the game. At h/t whistle he launched the ball into East Stand upper tier!
He was aiming for the Halfords.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Sam Johnstone
« on: January 05, 2022, 01:12:30 PM »
I’ve never really been a fan,too flappy, scared to come of his line etc...but can acknowledge that there have been on occasions some pretty decent saves.
What I don’t understand though is the continuous mention about him being an “England Keeper” ,surely it’s a damning reflection that the national teams squad is reliant on a keeper in the Championship with plasticine wrists as displayed for Cardiff’s goal ?

Still banging on with your relegation theme I see. What happens if Dike scores a few and we win back to back games, does that form then make us champions? Given your "stunned people cannot see just how bad things are" let's remind ourselves exactly the position we are in:

-4th in the league with 25 games played
-Best defensive record in the league
-Most shots on goal in the league
-Unbeaten at home
-Club record 10 games unbeaten starting run

We you around by any chance in January 2000 when we drew 0-0 at home to Port Vale with an attendance of 10,831? I was - bitterly cold and depressing game. Chambers twins were our own bright point. If travelled back in time 22 years and posted what your posting today back then you would make more sense. The lack of context and mass hysteria you are engaging in suggests you are quite young, that's my presumption anyway.
Listen, I get the facts that you have listed and have no trouble at all with fans wanting to be positive, but standing in a small dog poo is only marginally better than standing in a big dog poo?
The facts are that the manager has (usually after being forced) plated certain layers that have performed well….only to then take them straight out ……Livermore is a slow sitting duck and the forwards have absolutely no opportunity to create partnerships because the font line is continually fiddled with….
We might be 4th….but we really should be doing better, and that’s not me being over confident or rude to the other teams…..we have been absolutely rank against teams like derby ….XG’s or whatever

And then there are people saying he needs time to build “his team” well he brought in mulumby ….clearly more energy than livermore…..and doesn’t utilise him .
I just don’t think the boss is good enough.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Conor Townsend
« on: January 02, 2022, 03:11:30 PM »
Would not be selling Townsend now. He's on a long term deal. No need to upset any chance of promotion. Reach is ok but nothing more.
Whilst not in a rush to sell him,you have to balance what someone offers vs his long term potential if we went up
Anything north of 10m and I’d sell...I just don’t think he’s prem quality

And whilst this joke of a football manager is in charge neither will the Albion.

Honestly he’s the worst manager we’ve had in 25 years. He is massively out of his depth.

How can people not see this?
I can...he’s bloody terrible
