West Bromwich Albion FC / Loyalty points
« on: September 17, 2023, 01:34:00 PM »
A number of us noticed yesterday that Albion have reset the loyalty points system that is used to allocate tickets when there are few seats available (e.g. Blues).
I went from roughly 1800 points down to 210.

Does anyone know how this has been worked out or has anyone seen an announcement from the club?

I believe that the old system was cumulative over the last three years for home season tickets (500 PTS), home tickets in cups (10 points) and away games (5 points).

There were about 8 of us in the pub and the loyalty points seemed fair in terms of who goes to the most away games etc.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Zonal marking and tactics
« on: February 09, 2020, 07:03:03 PM »
Interesting that after the debacle of the Cardiff game, we appear to have changed from three players zonal marking on the edge of the six yard box to just one.

This means two of our best headers of the ball can now man mark. So far, this has been a good change.

Slav gets it bang on imho.

If you don't listen to his interviews after the games, you are missing out. It is so refreshing to have a manager who sees the issues, talks about them but then deals with them.

After Cardiff he said we would change something tactically (the zonal by the look of it) and he also identifed we kept taking extra touches and one too many during Luton.

Radio wm release every interview on their podcast station. Would thoroughly recommend.

Albion have recently been playing a different version of Insomnia by Faithless (music that players run out to, part of which is a ticking clock).

I love the version we play, does anyone know the mix, as I am trying to find it to remind me of the Albion. Thanks for any help. Really gets me going - anything like that is good now I am getting on...

Sorry, if this is in the wrong place, but seemed the most appropriate.

Just logged in to wba tickets to see if I can get away tickets and I am trying to work out how many loyalty points I have.

Where do you look or how do you find out for the figure?

I've found the info which is 1500 for 2 years of s/t renewal and 10 pts per cup game and 5 pts for league game.

I presumed there would be a total on the tickets system somewhere.

Thanks for any help.

West Bromwich Albion FC / British xi
« on: August 04, 2015, 09:50:30 AM »
Mentioned this last year but we are obviously wanting mainly British players.

Myhill
Dawson chester lescott brunt
Mc1 Morrison fletcher mc2
    Bera lambert

I know McLean is Republic Irish but you can see where we are going.
Is this necessarily a good thing? Do English players have the technical ability? We seem to struggle to keep the ball - is this a default problem of a British team? Who do we have to pick the ball up and guarantee to attack but not lose it with a pass?

What you do get is work rate and strength.

Personally I'm looking forward to seeing wingers again, taking people on.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Some of the criticism about playing style
« on: April 26, 2015, 08:29:49 PM »
Listening to the radio and reading after match debates I am hearing a little discontent about our recent style and that we are defending too much.

Having watched Chelsea over recent weeks and seeing how Everton played vs man u too,  it is fair to say all teams are doing it.
The difference is Everton had pace in lukaku and the flanks. It worked for them. Chelsea also have pace.

I don't want to watch us camping in our box but maybe we saw a chink of light for the future with the intro of mcmanaman yesterday.  Pace. We need it. Pulis wants it.

The question is we have said it for 2 years and still not replaced odemwingie and long.

Maybe the right summer will give us the right balance thus  giving us a better style?

West Bromwich Albion FC / White shorts and socks
« on: January 04, 2015, 10:19:55 AM »
Just been watching Albion west ham highlights from new years day and It made me realise how much have I prefer Albion having white shorts and white socks. Looks far classier.

The least said about the shirts the better.

I presume Albion have worn white shorts and socks for majority of history, certainly in my lifetime I only remember us wearing blue once before last 2 years?

Foster wisdom dawson lescott Gardner berahino = 6 English
brunt = 1 NI
Dorrans mozza = 2 scotts

Not sure if any other teams have that many English or brits?

I would have thought it could only help team communication and spirit?

West Bromwich Albion FC / boycott home game vs hull in cup
« on: September 13, 2014, 05:37:15 PM »
Just got back from Everton game.

Cannot remember the last time I enjoyed an Albion attacking performance.

Something is seriously wrong. No shape, no attacking intent, players making continuous mistakes.

The coaching team failed Clarke,  undermined mMel,  and now are taking us down with negative Irvine.

The only way peace will know we've had enough is for a dismal embarrassing attendance vs Hull.

I thought Morrison has been injured and missed pre - season?

Tell me how therefore he can make the bench but all the others we signed cannot?

Does anyone know if a gate of 10k at £10 adult and £5 kids in the cup means Albion lose or make money?

Stewards, appearance bonus, policing, lights etc seem a lot of outgoings.

I guess gate receipts are about £90k.

I'm intrigued.

West Bromwich Albion FC / ambition - in 12 months we have gone backwards
« on: September 02, 2013, 07:15:16 PM »
The loans for 1 year .
low transfer expenditure.
the short term signings  of older players e.g. anelka
No investment in young players for future.
Long for anichibe....
we have strenghtened  two of our rivals by selling pete and shlong...

I am starting to question why I renewed my 4 season tickets.

Unless we pull a rabbit out the bag, I will be remembering this window next June when asked to renew.

If we cannot plan better than this and show players and fans ambition, I am losing my interest. This will be another earnshaw window... we tried our best but....

West Bromwich Albion FC / blue shorts in home kit
« on: August 24, 2013, 10:53:36 AM »
I only realised on Saturday that we are wearing blue shorts at home this year. I just don't like it. To me, albion are white shorts. Really not keen. I'm sure we get relegated when we wear blue shorts at home...

Our main colour is white. Just doesn't look right...

West Bromwich Albion FC / WBA and the African Cup of Nations 2013
« on: August 28, 2012, 12:04:40 PM »
I hadn't realised this was on the cards this year.

Who will we lose then? Mulumbu? Pete?

Anybody else?

Losing pete is bearable given our strengths - however, to me, losing ym is a big loss...
