You're going to be unhappy with the play off games then : 1st leg Sunday 12th at 12.30, 2nd leg Thursday 16th 8pm....that's assuming we make it to the play offs.

We may be more likely to be in the Monday 13th and Friday 17th dates. Both at 8pm. If we do make the playoffs of course.

Atrocious from Furlong. Sold himself without committing to a challenge. More upset about Palmer's woeful distribution than his attempt to save, all the backline are passing it around terribly.

Fantastic point.

Terrible performance on the ball, bar some very brief purple patches. Bit of grit in defence and plenty of luck to boot.

Our wage bill 50 per cent higher than last year? Sorry but I don’t see that at all.

I assume he means 50% higher than Hull, after being double their figure the prior year. So effectively a 25% reduction in our wage outgoings.

We were so lethargic throughout the match. No ideas, just pass backwards and walk the ball.  Griffiths should have stopped their second goal, he was too lethargic to close their plaer down.Nothing comes of our corners (this is something which I have been saying such a lot about). Why don't we train and practice corner ball situations?

Their goal came off our corner. Wolves never looked threatening off their own corners either.

I guess the 4 best 3rd placed teams won't be assigned to anything until the group stages are over. Bit of a funny setup

Quite possibly!

Format been around in a few 24 team World Cups in the 90s.

Hwang unlikely to be available for Wolves.
Toney would be back for Brentford.

Wayne Rooney still with less points after nine games than John Eustace got in his final two games before being sacked.

Netherlands win against Greece should secure their qualification. Which means Ireland don't have to lose on purpose against the Dutch to improve their own chance of getting a Nations League play-off spot. Still unlikely with the other permutations required.

Surely Turkey is under EUFA, if they are and their window is different thats madness  football

Up to individual national FAs when they want their transfer window to be. Once they meet the time limit set aside by FIFa.

Plenty Eastern European countries still open for a few more days..

For anyone who doesn't know and wants to we're currently 20th in the xg f/a table and not 7th as in the real one. Southampton are currently top with 'Valerian Ismael's Watford' in second.

https://footystats.org/england/championship/xg

Ourselves and Middlesborough were in top 3 last season around late September in the expected goals tables, while both teams were languishing around the bottom five.

As well as positioning. Button seemed to be caught on his heels. Took forever to react.

Can anyone remember the last opposition player banned retrospectively against Albion ?

Delle Alli for Spurs in 2016 after throwing a punch.

Our last retrospective ban I think was Gayle for diving in our play-off season.

Football is an entertainment industry & I'm sure the BBC would love a bigger share.

Controversy is part of the entertainment, & BTA has been found guilty of breaking the rules. I'm really not covinced that would have been picked up in a review meeting if Murphy hadn't made it a big deal.

What really annoys me though is when a player is being fouled & he retaliates, it's only the retaliating player who gets punished. That rule needs some serious reviews.

Wasn't watching live. But had West Brom fans and others in some of my chats saying he should have been sent-off or at least lucky to still be on the field. Was about five and half hours before Danny Murphy (and whoever edited the clips for the match) had their piece shown.

If you watch the highlights, the ref's standing about 10 metres away, almost certainly would have seen it, & if she didn't the assistant would have.

In fairness, the referee is looking in the opposite direction towards the area where the ball is. Assistant may have had a better look but probably more focused on offside line.. This was well behind that.

I think the biggest difference that Carlos has made is defending from the front, takes so much pressure off the back 4, add in having Palmer giving them security and we are transformed.

Both of our goals came from seeking to win the ball back around the attacking third as well.

Ever since the 1974 WC, when they should have won it, but instead wanted to take the p** with the Germans, and then in 1978 when a shot by Rensenbrink hit the post when it was 1-1 in the final with the Argentinians, I have backed Holland.  The quest continues.

The narrative around that 1974 final is way overplayed. That was a very strong German team, with plenty of class players. They pretty much dominated the game after the concession of early goal, and if anything the final score-line flattered the Netherlands. Maybe they had their own issues but Germany were thoroughly deserving of their win on the day.

Modified: West Germany penalty given may have been a close call, but they had a clear penalty not given in wecone-half as well as a very dubious offside given for what seemed a perfectly fine goal.

As for the question, I guess Wales will be my number one team for this World Cup.
Number 2 team: whoever knocks out France.

Middlesbrough's English boss Chris Wilder, 55, is a leading candidate for the vacant job at Championship rivals Bournemouth having previously led Sheffield United to promotion to the Premier League.

Former Championship rivals surely. Falling upwards.

Richarlison far more in Mendy's eye-line than Kyle Bartley was in Allison's.  I do bare a grudge.

Have Sky admittedly. Must say what I found really annoying of the coverage was how much of the game they didn't show.
Anytime there was a stoppage, it was a series of close ups on fans, managers, players previously involved with a replay or two. Meanwhile you hear the fans at the game getting excited over some action on the field and rather than seeing a team take their goal kick, you resume with the opposition having an attacking throw-in.
Think I prefer the weeknights red button ones where all you see is the actual live action on the field, even when 'nothing' is happening.

First half, overall we were dominated. Mainly from our midfield letting 'Boro expose our defence and requiring them to be scrambling. In attack, I felt there were glimpses of positivity, mainly with the two New boys. A great effort by Wallace early on which I am certain was intentional, despite Goodman's thoughts.
We tried to play the ball on the ground, through midfield, but almost any time we were threatening to getnon the front-foot, 'Boro were happy to hack us down near half-way. That continued for second-half (and we started to do likewise) but we got more direct and in behind, bypassing that area of the field.

Hopefully Button can work on his composure and kicking. His clearances when having to race out under pressure were fine but some awful kicks with no pressure on him.
