Hey JMullen 95, tell me how many clean sheets does Palmer have so far this season?
 I think it’s 17,
Not bad for a go is it?
He’s the best we’ve got ,a top keeper in this division,do you know how good he would be if we get promoted, because if you do know ,give me Saturday’s lottery numbers please.

But that stat in itself isn’t necessarily a good measure of his goal keeping ability. For example, in all 17 of those games, the opposition may not have a shot on target. As I understand, the more detailed metrics suggest he’s about average for this division.

Can we cut out the petty squabbling, it's getting very tiresome.
If you can't debate like adults maybe take a break from the forum.

I know what i see mate, i know hes a good keeper and i think he'll improve as gk tend to
So I'll stick with my understanding of the game, how he communicates with his defenders his distribution etc, i dont need to know about the metrics, i know because i am there watching

His shot saving percentage is 70.1 percent which puts him 7th.

The squad has defended well as a whole throughout the season and only Leeds have had more shots on target against. With a 70% save percentage that puts Palmer 7th in the division and a 50% penalty save percentage too.  This clearly puts him way above average for the division.

Well his distribution is terrible even his biggest supporters would admit that.

His distribution is his worst skill.

If you sit in the Halfords or the East Stand you must be on tenterhooks when the ball is near him.

I'd rather that his worst skill than any of the other skills required of a goalkeeper!

I agree - i'd much rather his distribution be his worst skill.  He is average to good on the rest which is about par for the division.

Depends on how difficult these shots are that he's saving...if he's pulling point blank saves out, or clawing them out of the top corner then fair enough. If we are funnelling shots down his throat then you'd expect a high shot save percentage.

Never underestimate the importance of good goalkeeper distribution when trying to break through a team’s press.

It’s one of the main reasons why Burnley won the league at a canter last year.

....with a goalkeeper who has been part of FA Cup & League cup winning squads and was at a newly relegated Premier League team.

I just woke up from a dream where he let in a soft Preston free kick for a 0-1 defeat.

Oh what an open goal you put on a plate there but I'll have to pass let's just hope it's a hero we're appluading on Saturday or I'd be happy with a professional job done by the team and save the hero bit for later.

He's probably the 6th best keeper in the league, and we're about the 6th best team in the league.

Congrats to Alex. Got a chance this season to establish himself as a first team regular, and has done an excellent job. No complaints from me.
