Not sure it's really fair to criticise some of the players seeing as they were playing against a team way above the quality.  What do we expect?  That Swift and Grady were suddenly going to have a decent premiership defence scrambling?

Talks are underway.

As is the search party to find the balls that went into the east stand.

Not sure I’d fancy him, was never the same after the skiing accident  ;D

Would still be better than Pardew.

He had a good game today - kicking was on point and couldn't really do anything about the goal.

Change should have been Bartley for Styles , swift is much to lightweight rancid should have come on for johnson , As for Cole he does nothing should give one of the kids a chance

Bartley for Styles is a good call.  Stick Heggem LB and Bartley in the middle or play 5 at the back.  I like Styles but his weak point are deep crosses, he's not the tallest of players.

Typical though.  I'm not a fan off the changes we make like this - when we do 1 or 2 subs every few minutes.  It seems to leave us disjointed.

I prefer to play in their back yard.

And that's what happens when you give the ball away cheaply.

Decent teams will see this out without taking any risks - like Swift just did.  Swansea should just be chasing shadows now.  If there were 30 mins left I'd agree but we should be able to see this out and if Swansea can't get the ball we win.

A lot of back passing.

Don't mind when we're winning 0-1, no point giving it away if we can help it.

Great goal.  Was always coming that.  Funny watching Molumby run with the ball, the defence drop and he start to panic he might have to shoot and plays Fellows in instead.

Not long before that Fellows had the ball wide and we had 5 (five!) players in the box for the cross so we did really step up to look for goals.

Mowatt and Fellows to come on?

Would make total sense to do that.

The difference in Grant is incredible isn't it?  If we'd had this Grant all along we wouldn't blink at the £15m we paid for him.

Bizarre first half but in the last 20 mins I thought we took full control and Molumby and Johnstone started to get into the game. We really should be 3-4 goals up by now. Jed done some good things but a bit rusty.

100%.

Good example there - Grant clear with loads of time, but there's 1 player to aim at. Grant plays it across the box so it looks dangerous but there's no-one there.  Is that a better cross than aiming for Maja and a defender getting a toe on it?

Diakite has done nothing wrong

Yeah, he's been ok.  MJ is the biggest disappointment so far - can anyone name ANYTHING he's done yet?  Any breaks? Any chances for a cross?  Anything dangerous at all?

So poor that from Wallace 2 crosses now that have been cut out by the defender.

The problem is that we break and he only has 2 people - at best - to aim at sometimes it's just the one.  When there's 4 defenders all tracking back as well then there's good chances the right pass will get cut out.  No point crossing the ball to where players aren't so you end up hoping you wrong foot the defender or the defender lets it through.

MJ\Styles\Molumby\Diakate need to get forward into the box so we've got something to aim at - and Furlong needs to get up the pitch to give an option when the pass isn't on.

He's a good keeper and he's improved a lot at when it comes to high balls that's for sure.
It really is his kicking that lets his game down.

I'm not talking about bobbly ones back to him, ones under pressure, or ones where he's had to hit it first time - I'm talking the ones where it's at his feet, there's no-one around him, he's got plenty of time.. he lines it up.. and smacks it 30 yards over the head of Furlong and out for a throw in.

It shouldn't be an "either\or" situation thing though - I would like a top reflex keeper and one who can kick the ball in the direction of his target.  I mean, they train a few times a week, they have staff to go and fetch the balls for him, and to aim at, he's got every possible advantage needed to improve something as basic as kicking a football.  It's not like he's got to go over a field with one ball, kick it, run after it, and kick it again.  He can stand there with 100 footballs and rattle them off and get someone to fetch them.

Need to pick up the pace. When we slow down, other teams score against us.

Our defence is prone to mistakes so we do better when we're pushing forward on the attack rather than sitting back.

Great half from us.  A slight wobble after going 1-0 up but controlled the game after we got over that despite possession being even.

Noticeable that Furlong seems to be bursting forward more and also into more central positions rather than just out wide.

Diakaite and Molumby look a really good pairing - it's interesting seeing Molumby paired with someone who has some mobility and pace as well.

I know he gets a lot of flack, but I thought Wallace looked fine when he came on.  Got involved, got us up the pitch a few times and kept possession.  A lot better than recent games and probably the best option we have from the bench aside Grady.  Dobbin did his usual "run with the ball and overhit it" once and that was it.

Excellent performance really.  Poor opening 10 minutes where it looked like we were going to get thumped.  Got back into it and was probably the better team overall.  Molumby and Styles were excellent.

Molumby giving swift and Dobbin a right rollicking for failing to clear

That was a shocker from the pair of them.  After not clearing a simple ball they just stood there watching while everyone else was scrambling to make a challenge.

Will someone get Palmer some "kicking the ball" training please?
