Still plenty of tickets left for this one which is no surprise really.

I think i'm going to go, it's 2 hrs 30 each way for me and a total of £18 return on coach so not too bad.

Anyone ever been before, recommended pubs etc?

Cheers!

Bloody hell. There was about 200 tickets left the other day, just gone to buy and now it's all sold out!

If anyone hears of one going spare i'd be interested. Thanks.

Not expecting anything other than a defeat here.
It'll be good for some of the fringe players and young talent to get game time although due to not playing together regularly I'm expecting a disjointed performance.

In a way it's a shame that a new head coach isn't in place for the game (at time of writing) as they could have had a chance to see first hand how those players perform.

I imagine the team will look something like (although PL2 side do play on Friday against Everton):

Wildsmith
Frabotta
Holgate
Taylor
Nelson
Bostock
Racic
Whitwell
Heard
Sule
Cole

Subs: Cann, Diomande, Heggem, Styles, Diakite, Mowatt, Diangana, Wallace, Love

I'm expecting a lot of rotation but that reads like an unserviced helicopter flying headlong into a hurricane. Like many I'm making the journey down and although my considerations won't be considered regarding selections it would be nice if we didn't stroll into the game with our pants around our ankles while wearing a smile.

You may well be right but that selection would, in my view, be very soundly beaten. This despite the obvious likelihood of it being a much weaker Bournemouth side than the one that lines up in the premier league.

I completely agree that the side I've named will be soundly beaten by Bournemouth (I'd expect them to make a lot of changes too) I just can't see us naming a much stronger side...and I think I've named the better PL2 players with our squad players.

I really hope I'm wrong and we field a much stronger side but with a play off place up for grabs (and seemingly more important to the owners). I can't see us playing more than 2 or 3 first team players.

Even for premiership sides, Bournemouth are difficult to beat at the Vitality Stadium.  They are very quick and very aggressive.  Forwards and backs alike will charge into the backs of anyone with the ball then hold their hands up.  They will mow our younger players down.   A huge step up whereas I would prefer a more incremental introduction against a poorly performing side in the championship.

I've watched Bournemouth a couple of times and another  thing I've noticed is that they very often take free kicks and especially throw-ins very quickly.  The players all seem to know what to do and where to run on these occasions - no waving the ball about above the head for 30-40 seconds - got to approve of that.

I know some traditionalists - including the lump it forward no "tippy-tappy" brigade - will advocate that it's good hardening experience.  I would point out that a good general does not put raw, inexperienced  recruits in the most difficult part of the front.

I hope we don't get too many injuries because that what can happen with this kind of mismatch.

I'm a bit bemused with Bournemouth having an established Premier League club. Bournemouth hasn't got the atmosphere of a football town. I associate it more with such sports as bowls, croquet and mini-golf.

It would be interesting to know the thoughts of Bournemouth folk about West Bromwich. ??

It’s amazing how fortunes can turnaround in football.
It wasn’t too many seasons ago that Bournemouth FCwere a total non-entity languishing in the lower leagues and now we are expecting a big loss to them and soundly beaten as posted above. Frightening really.

Correct. And yet when they were languishing in the lower leagues they still managed to knock us out of the FA Cup at their place despite being an apparent non entity.

Yeah  about year 2000 ?.... they also knocked us out of the League Cup in 2014 ...although I think that was the season they won promotion into the Premier League.

Have you been a some time out of the UK? The Bournemouth area has had a big increase in population over the past decade or so; it's quite built up.  This is consistent with other South coast places (c Brighton, Southampton).  Many perhaps most of the incomers probably have arrived from football supporting areas.

Ok. I know the Bourmemouth/Poole area vaguely from 30 years ago, so I'm basing it on that. That said, I think Southampton has much more of a football atmosphere about it. Maybe to do with it being a large port and having an industrial base. Bournemouth always seemed to be full of peoppe on leisure trips or pensioners toddling out of their nursing homes (I'm sure any Bournemouth fans reading will be loving this  8))
