Not so 'fun fact'. Fourth Official James Linington is the plum who reffed our 3-1 away defeat to Blues last season.

Bought our tickets for this game on the same morning I bought our tickets for Oxford. Oxford tickets arrived within two days but our Blackburn tickets are MIA. Looking like yet another request for reprints.

Currently loads and loads of tickets remaining for this fixture. It's almost as though people don't fancy a journey to Blackburn on a wet and windy night in the second half of October.

Fear not though ladies gentlemen and pronouns. The weather forecast for Blackburn is currently better than those for West Bromwich and the local environs. Roll up roll up or me and my lad will be very lonely at this rate.

Tickets are available on the main ticket site. If you're lucky they may even arrive before game day so you don't have to go on the reprint list and face the inconvenience of picking them up on the night  8) .

Tickets were waiting for me when I got home yesterday. Only took two weeks. Don't know what I was worrying about.........  :-X .

We need to get back on track. Ajayi needs to come out of the team so perhaps Holgate or Mcnair in at cb. Less disruption to back 4. Otherwise Heggem cb and try frambotta?

Also think Grant is worth a go in the number 10 as Swift and Diangana haven't offered anywhere near enough. Then try Johnston left midfield and give him a run of games and see if he can find form.

Cole on the bench also a must.

Have to agree with all of this. I think McNair coming in is our best hope of solidifying. The Holgate of now is quite an unknown quantity to me.

I don’t mind Diangana and Grant continuing where they are though as they were two of our brighter sparks yesterday. It would be good if Johnston could find some form though so I’d also be happy to see you suggestion play out.

We will do well to get anything out of this one. I think they have won every home game in the Championship so far. With our shyness in front of goal I’d take a 0-0.

You are right, they have won all 5 games - 4-2, 2-1, 3-0, 2-0 and 1-0 - I would take a boring 0-0 too -  winning sequences have to end sometime, and this one is already impressive!

According to whoscored.com Paddy McNair played in the middle of a back three in each of Northern Ireland's last four internationals. Given Blackburn's current home form I'm wondering whether we'll switch to a back three.

I know we often pivot to a three in open play and fluctuate between Ws and Ms and whatever letters of the alphabet but we could end up with Heggem, Bartley and McNair on the right of a starting three with either Styles or Frabotta at left wingback and Furlong on the right. As in:

Palmer.
McNair, Bartley, Heggem.
Furlong, Molumby, Racic, Mowatt, Styles/Frabotta.
Maja, Grant.

Subs: Whomever plus Cole.

Or not  ;D .

Or even a 343 with Fellows and Grant flanking Maja and a central four of Furlong, Molumby, Mowatt and Styles/Fabrotta. Could even have that central four with any from Racic, Swift or Diangana playing behind a front two of Maja and Grant. With Cole as an option from the bench. Again.

Finger in the air time. Something isn't working and we could be in for a change. What I do know is that we've missed Molumby's midfield work rate, Mowatt and Racic don't really do it for me as a midfield pairing and we've missed Swift linking play. At the same time we've also been missing midfield runners into the box and we're currently too light in the middle.
It doesn't matter how many resources you have.

It is absolutely time to change formation and tactics
I’d go 3 - 5 - 2

Palmer
Ajayi Holgate Heggem
Furlong mulumby Mowatt swift styles
Grant Maja

What a bench
Wildsmith
Frabrotta
Racic
Diakite
Fellows
Johnstone
Dobbin
COLE
Diangana

One of the most inept performances of the season.
He reffed us 3 times last season and we lost the lot...maybe he'll be a better 4th official....have to hope no Blackburn player slips in the box.

If there is one part of the team that plays as a unit then it is the back 4 or back 3. I think we should avoid chopping and rotating there, unless the manager is convinced there is a better unit. With McNair leaving in a few weeks there's not much point trying to integrate him in, except in an emergency.
I think we're still searching for the most effective midfield. Mowatt is the only fixture in there for me. All the rest have better or worse days. I think Johnston is key, and him refinding his mojo (or whatever the term is) would immediately give us that extra threat from both wings. I don't think he's a midfielder.
I think its a valid point to question whether we should be automatically subbing on 60 mins. Carlos definitely sees it as a squad game, and he's thinking about the extra energy a fresh set of legs brings as well as keeping good team spirit throughout the group.

Which basically boils down to "we may start with 10 outfield players" ;-)
