Substitutions were a prime cause of us not winning imo. We ended up with Johnston on the right wing , fair enough but why not just swap him with Fellows in the first place instead of putting Wallace there only to move him after about a further 10mins. We then left ourselves with two smaller blokes to defend against a side who’s main method of attack after Dembele went off was the hoof or the set piece

I think VAR would have upgraded it to red.

Anyone else still seething that we’ve not won that game?

If there was VAR they would have had a pen when Furlong got nowhere near the ball.

You mean a sending off for being last man? Certainly wasn’t in the box from what I recall?

Manager is too risk averse. His subs sometimes are just for the sake of it. To not use a striker from the bench constantly causes issues as soon as we take Maja off the ball don't stick.

Ajayi isn't good enough are we going to give the likes of Holgate or Mcnair at go at cb? Or even Heggem moving across so we can see one of the 2 left backs we signed...

Carlos did wonders with a thread bare squad now he has too many options and doesn't seem to know what to do with them. Cole surely can't be any worse than Dobbin or Wallace up top.
O Albion we love you

If there was VAR they would have had a pen when Furlong got nowhere near the ball.
We would have had one too when Ajayi was thrown to the floor in the second half.
We really should have been up by 2 or 3 but again our inability to put away the chances we create cost us.
I would have subbed Fellows for Johnston and moved Diangana out wide right with Johnston behind Maja.
If Corberan isn't going to put another striker on then we need to keep Maja on the pitch. Wallace and Swift up front is not the answer.
I was surprised at how poor Oxford were, I was expecting them to play with a bit of skill but their only tactic seemed to be to try a long ball over the top to Harris who would then throw himself on the floor.

We got what we deserved.

Almost some sort of arrogance that we could coast through that second half and walk away with the win. They well and truly hit us with a sucker punch.

Teams with aspirations of promotion get that game won early doors and then coast through. Instead, we’ve chucked away two points against a poor outfit.

Well done to Oxford for staying in the game.

We got a draw, but it feels like a loss.

At one time, during the in game chat, someone else said it reverted to walking football. Also we started the Chuckle brothers game at the back without getting the ball farward.

Agree with Devon in stripes…. Need to play 4-4-2 or 3-5-2 we must play 2 strikers …otherwise we ain’t going to score. This basic tactics that I used when coaching. Other teams know we don’t have a plan B. We should be able to change systems mid match depending how the opposition are playing. Personally I favoured 3-5-2 as it gave more flexibility in attack and defence…more bodies available to do both jobs. I hope Carlos reads these posts…not saying I am an elite coach by any means.
Have to stop being predictable
This is the clearest version of something I have been trying to say several times.  A Millwall guy I work with said the club talk before the game was that we can quite easily be snuffed out because everyone knows what a Corberan team does now.

Diagana awful?you must of been watching a different match he played well ,way better than swift in that no 10
I couldn't agree more with you. Diangana had a very good game, more like his old self.

Swift hasn't really been playing the number ten role this season though.
It doesn't matter how many resources you have.
If you don't know how to use them, they will never be enough.

Yes indeed.  When Diang went off and Swift came on, that was the turning point.

Their subs seem to increase their energy levels, they managed to get two or three players around every one or ours in possession.  Our subs decreased the energy levels.

We did get some shots away but like a lot of teams at this level, they are able to get back, swarm the penalty area and block.  Whenever the ball went loose from a block they were first to it.  Maybe we ought to coach reactions although I think that's something inherent that can't be coached.

The commentator made reference to how well we had retained the ball and looked compose due to Swift coming in…it was after they smashed in to him that he went missing .

I don't see that the Diangana/Swift swap can be held up as a reason for losing or dropping off - we were already lacking intensity 2nd half. Diangana was mediocre at best, he needs to be sharper, more positive and impose himself on the game more.

Looked more like a collision than a clatter too me.  Times haven't changed.  It's still the second division  - no place for shrinking violets.

Horses for courses …fellows,Johnstone,Swift,Diangana were not brought in for blood and thunder tackling…it may not have been intentional but that doesn’t stop it hurting and having an effect…we aren’t privy to the conversation where perhaps he said it had hurt him but was asked to carry on as he was already one of the used subs?
Times definitely have changed .

We were a few minutes from winning. We ended up drawing away to a mid table side with a good home record. If you only read the comments on here without knowing the result, I'm pretty sure most readers would conclude that we had lost. Time to keep a sense of perspective I think
