I agree with your comments that QPR and Stoke could have fairly easily buried their chances.
Also Mowatt is a playmaker but not a true defensive midfielder.  In those matches, opposition midfield players seemed to be able to run into dangerous positions without being picked up - that's what a DM does or raises the alarm to fellow defenders.

Roll on Heggem moving to LCB and Racic going in front of the back line.

Swansea also playing on Wednesday which might help depending on how seriously they take it

Of course all oppositions will have an oportunity to score but looking back on last 3 league matches, we also could have scored a few more goals than we did
2-0 baggies, straightforward home win
Then international 2 weeks for CC  to connect with all new players and get them up to speed, looking good so far.

Obviously. The point being make the opposition work for their opportunities rather than gifting them opportunities with sloppy play.

Ouch, never ever predict a straightforward home win!

I expect them to do what most teams do at our place and try to shut up shop and nick one on the break.  Let's hope we can get an early one.  I could save time and copy that onto almost every home game this season, to be honest.

I have been reading the recent comments with interest and you are absolutely right. You also get my respect for actually being at the games in question as I still believe that, only by doing so, do you get to see the full picture. I have loved the fact we have won both away games but we are definitely presenting too many opportunities to our opponents who, if of a higher calibre, would have made us suffer.

It's also worth noting the changes in midfield. Swift has been more fluid, dropping deeper and keeping momentum going while Molumby has been pressing and challenging further forward. While often deeper than both Mowatt is not a traditional defensive midfielder and none of them appears to have taken on Yokuslu's tracking role.

This is purely conjecture but I doubt QPR score their goal unchallenged with him in our side and he'd more than likely have been in the half space between midfield and centre back for Stoke. When Racic gets up to speed I see him occupying that role.

As Mark says, we looked a bit shaky at the back at the start of last season.

We will have to see if Racic makes a difference in that respect, but there are mixed reports around the role he will fulfil, either a traditional defensive midfielder or slightly more box to box, it does make me hope that Diakite is given chances are he does seem to be the most similar profile to Yokuslu to allow su to get a better grip on midfield.

I think (hope) that letting the defensive unit have a run of games will iron out a lot of stuff. We will still have Mr 50p head pointing away and Semi Aware having the odd moment but they will get better the longer they play together and add in a stronger DMF will help too.

It's hard for a manager to change a winning team but opportunities will definitely come as we, are already racking up yellow cards.

Assume you mean Bartley by the comment above? Would much rather have him there than not have him there from those currently at our club.

We've got 5 (same as Coventry & Bristol City) it's less than 2 a game...only 6 teams have less than 5 yellow cards.

Harry Darling wins almost everything in the air from attacking set pieces. Thankfully, we have Bartley who does the same defensively, even if he doesn't know where the ball is going as he connects with it.

I'm not sure about Bartley after that Swansea game last season!

That last 15 minutes of the game at The Hawthorns last season was really pathetic game management.

We were fortunate to walk out with three points because we couldn't get our heads on anything.

From memory I thought a lot of that was to do with Pieters struggling with the aerial threat much like when Hugill bullied him at Rotherham the season before. Thankfully this season, our side is much bigger.

He was on for the last 18 minutes having replaced Pieters. Ajayi also formed a back three alongside Kipre.

I’ve just watched the highlights and have burst out laughing at some of our defending that day. Kids stuff

Atmosphere and feel good factor could be pretty high at this one.

Swansea have also played twice since we have, with their best player Matt Grimes playing all 180 minutes. You know what this means….  0-1

Yeah but when Bartley came on we didn't concede so I don't really think you can blame him on that day.

Dike was on Hughill for set pieces against Rotherham that day. For a big man Dike did a very passable impression of the Invisible Man.

Agreed but for the width of a post, we could have lost against Stoke.  I thought that Ajayi was the better of the two CBs when dealing 1 on 1 with Koumas but the lad managed to slip with frightening ease between the two of them.

I wouldn't want Bartley as captain as he too readily blames others for his mistakes.  Against Stoke one of his passes to  Heggem was yards out but he seemed to blame him.  Own you mistakes, your team will have more respect for  you.
