On the squad changes and the debate around us taking the competition seriously,  eventually we will have to start naming stronger sides (else what is the point of our existence?). This is a really strange season though. Loads of players released this summer, then a fire sale of another 3 in the last few weeks (we've only bought 6 outfield players overall).

Corberan named all 5 senior outfield pros he had available who didnt start vs QPR. To only have 15 outfield senior pros available shows the predicament he is in. We have 2 to return and another 3-4 signings in the next couple of weeks, but Corberan knows that for around 6-7 weeks, he will have a very thin squad. With that considered, I do have sympathy with why he didnt want to risk injuries last night.

That was a total gutless performance. If the club wants to save money on the wage bill send half that team out on loan.

I didn't see a player there capable of performing in the championship.

I lost count of the times the ball got passed from the right back to the centre back to the left back then back to the centre back. A lot of this needless passing was done within the last 10 minutes when we were losing and should have been getting the ball in the opposing penalty area. All Fleetwood needed to do was sit back, which they did, because they knew our players weren't capable of breaking through them.

I know it was only a carabao cup game but the record books will show we lost to a side 2 leagues lower then us. They wore our clubs shirt and basically they should have shown more fight. If not for themselves but for all the great players in the past who have wore that shirt.

If we get too many injuries and have to depend on these to players last night we will be in trouble. I said it before the season started and seeing the squad of players we have, even after Saurdays performance, we will still finish mid table and that will be a good achievement.

A reserve/youth team showing exactly why CC picked the 11 starters he did on Saturday. It's also clear we could not afford any injuries to that 11. Disappointed as I am with the result and performance, I fully understand the need to play that team.
What it does show, besides the need to magically find some senior players from somewhere, is that many of the youngsters are not ready or possibly, not good enough, to be considered championship level.
It also made me think the senior players on show are still not match fit- or are very slow.
CC,  you are doing an amazing job in difficult circumstances.

You could give these players more practice together in friendlies, but, friendlies don't have the same competitive edge, and secondly, the calendar is so congested, there is no space for any extra fixtures.  Its a shame we're out of the Carabao cup (or whatever its called these days), but that's where the club is now. We still have 46 competitive fixtures which is a hell of alot by international standards. Sure, other Championship clubs are still in, but maybe they have stronger all round squads. Clearly we're not in a position to go out splashing the cash, so we have to nurture our young players so that some will be ready to perform in the Championship. I'm sure CC is doing the right thing.

Those players last night are past nurturing. If a player is no good, he is no good and there's nothing more to be said. Passing the ball sideways all match is not being a footballer as far as I'm concerned. Yes we have 46 competitive matches but the problem we have is that our reserves are not up to Championship standard and neither are the loan players we got in. Cole should have done better last night considering he scored all his goals against sides of that standard. Losing doesn't bother me its not having a go bothers me. Passing the ball sideways with minutes to go when you are losing is never going to win you matches. We could have probably got 11 fans who would have given a better performance with fight and determination. I bet very few of them broke into a sweat. I suppose one good thing came out of last night is that we won't have to see those players again this year. Probably one match in the FA cup and thats it their season is over.

Not sure lumping a player together with 10 others who have barely played together before is conducive to good development either.

The young lads need to go out on loan as others have said. Playing with a a team of pro’s as young potentia over a longer periodl will be quite different to playing as young potential in a team of other novices in a single game

I thought Heard, McNair and Whitwell looked good, the rest not so much. The atmosphere there felt like a pre season friendly, you know it's bad when you can hear people talking as the game is going on. I will reserve judgement on the new lads until i see them in the first team set up but i think it's fair to say i expected a bit more from them yesterday.
