The preferred starting 11 starting to take shape maybe?

It has lower mid table to relegation battle written all over it.

Looks like 2 teams for a half each to me rather than CC starting XI.

Pretty sure he just flew out for talks rather than to sign. According to some media outlets he was a guest at Maccabi Haifa's champions league game on Tuesday.

Maybe the talks didn't proceed as expected.

Those red and blue shirts don't look right on an Albion team.

He did, went and inspected ground etc but has concerns around his security over there apparently.

2-2 FT.
I never read much into preseason but I’m guessing CC has his first 11 in mind now. Lots of weaknesses but it is what it is. We’re in for a long hard scrap this season but hopefully there’s enough in the squad to keep us from a relegation battle.

Just got back from the game, and not impressed. Yes I know it's only a friendly and we had two different teams out for each half, but I didn't see anything that gave me expectations for next season apart from a big struggle. We all know our problems and are hoping Carlos can sprinkle some magic dust, we will have to see if he can but I didn't see anything different in his tactics today.

Was at the game having been invited to pre-game lunch in the Director’s Suite by Ben Robinson, owner of Burton Albion.

Have to agree with ‘tegga’, the performance was certainly not inspiring by both first and second half teams and, although a friendly, if that continues, we are going to struggle next season.

Well taken goals from Erik Pieters and Matty Phillips but quite a few chances missed especially one which was a totally open goal !five yards out!

The highlight of the afternoon was meeting and chatting over lunch with Lorraine and Dawn Astle - daughter and widow of my all-time hero.

Doesn't look great on paper when you consider Burton, Cheltenham and Salford should be well under our level. However, I assume the players were instructed not to go at it 100% because of the injury risk. As long as CC has enough to be competitive in the league, maybe topped up with extra firepower up front.

Seen the highlights. How the hell did they score their first goal? At that angle, no way should Palmer be getting beaten.

As for that miss from Faal, sorry but that isn't good enough, pre season or not, it's an open goal with no player blocking his path and somehow he hits the post.

I'm well aware it's only pre-season and people will keep telling me it doesn't matter but we're setting a predictable pattern already.

Without Dara our defence, as things stand, is going to be too fragile for us to mount any sort of challenge and we need a bare minimum of two forwards / flair players that can add some clinicality to us.

Tom Fellows appears to be impressing everyone but, much like the rest of our attack minded players, he's not scoring and he's not assisting.

He injured himself, not got an injury?  Prejudice showing there, or did he run into a post?

He robs the keeper on the edge of the box, then turns in one motion and hits the post. Not as easy as you are making out. To me it's more unlucky than poor finishing.
