West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Daryl Dike
« on: Yesterday at 07:32:59 PM »
He's lost a lot. He's half the man he used to be on TikTok

It's all that dancing.

Seriously, the way TM sent him onto the pitch, looked like he was having some proper man-management words with him.

As others have said, best thing that happened today.

1. I thought a lot better than against Blackburn. Not hard admittedly.

2. A point at Millwall is always worth earning. I will be honest I expected us to lose today. Whether I should have expected more I don't know but that's why my head is in an ok place.

3. Wildsmith did well I thought today. Bit of a fumble with the one but the point is I think he shows real promise.

4. Seeing Dike on the pitch was an absolute joy.

I know loads of you will slate me for a happy clapper - I'm not that happy to be frank - but I think, get Maja and Bartley back, get Dike up to speed a bit more and hopefully TM will get to grips with this squad. I said after the last game it's tinkering under the bonnet... but I do appreciate we need to get firing pretty quickly.

No what I’d have picked. Big game for TM. He knows that getting Fritzl on side is very important

Can't argue with that one...!  ;)

I would have even drank Carling too in hindsight!!  ;D ;D

Even Carling has more about it than that squad on Wednesday.

Someone made a reference to horse urine. That was Albion mid week.

I've found this post interesting, nothing to add as everyone has said it all.

OTHER THAN we've got too many midfield and forward players who can't find the net.

One further point. The Armstrong disallowed goal. There were two Blakburn defenders with both arms around Albion .players while the ball was in play, yet the ref penalises Armstrong for basically a touch. If the defender had done that we wouldn't have been awarded a penalty. The goal should have stood.

I really was seething over that. You've just reminded me of my seething and I'm seething again.

And Dan, you've just reminded me of Price. Quite correct, sir.

But our best player ended up being Jed Wallace who many on here have derided.

We have criticised the subs - Fellows and Johnstone were rubbish so could have no complaints at being withdrawn. Did either of them actually beat their man once?

I commented on Wallace's input on the 'after match' just this morning. Agree with both of your points here - think it was right to sub the wingers. Just not sure TM put all the subs in the right places!

Some tinkering under the bonnet required before Millwall.

I had to come away from all things Albion last night and I've only been able to come back to the forum today, 35 posts later it seems.

We were abject, 11 separate players unable to communicate with one another. It's not like we faced an impressive team; far from it. The only players who put any kind of shift in were Styles, Armstrong, Lankshear and, I have to say, Wallace; that said even they were lacking.

I don't know where we pick ourselves up from that.

Poor, poor first half from us. Very disjointed.

I don't earn enough money to leave early.

I'll squeeze every last penny out of every ticket, thanks.

And because it's the hope that kills us, I can't miss a moment on the few occasions I manage to get to the hallowed ground!

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Adam Armstrong signs on loan
« on: February 06, 2025, 08:59:58 AM »
So we are in the playoffs.  One chance in four of promotion?  Not really, such is the superiority of the teams ifinishing 3rd and 4th it is more like one chance in ten.

So what is the point of an expensive loan, suppressing the development of our younger players for the possible financial reward of half a million from our home first-leg playoff tie?

If life seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing
When you're feeling in the dumps
Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle, that's the thing
And
Always look on the bright side of life
(Come on)

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: 2025 winter transfer window review
« on: February 05, 2025, 09:59:06 PM »
There is not a world where we can hold onto Palmer and Griffiths so a choice had to be made if not now then in the summer. I am fairly sanguine about the deal overall.

The key here is we made a sale to reinvest in the squad not stay afloat.

Yes absolutely.

Not much there for me to dislike, sorry Palmer has gone but it all makes sense on balance.

Here's my review: tell me when we last had a window this good?

14 draws so far in the league, non attributable to Mowbray,we knew it would be more WLWLWL and that looks like what we will get.

Agreed.

Some of the comments here are laughable
I'm out

I do agree. Though he should have kept Tom and Mikey on, but the man's on his third game in charge and I'll reserve the right to judge him on his, I don't know, eighth.

Some folk on here are delusional about what we are capable of. Best team in the division one week, worst the next. And you know what, most of the teams in this division ARE both.

I think the problem is everyone was predicting an easy win for us after last week but the Championship just doesn’t work like that. Plymouth have shored up their defence and made it hard for us.

And more or less what I was expecting. The reverse fixture at the Hawthorns was hardly inspiring and only difference was that Maja was on hand to give us one solitary goal.

I'm guessing that TM's actually wondering if he actually HAS played the same team as last week...
