Early kick off ! Two and a half hours before the usual time. Does that mean we don't have to leave early before the end of the game ?  🤔

I'm looking forward to going down the Albion, as always, today. Is it a must win game? Looking at the fixtures we have left, you would have to yes. Although when we meet teams around us in the division, you would say those are more important to win. Let's hope things go our way today. COYB.

We have got to be happy with that result. Well done lads.

Really pleased the way we have responded after Leeds took the lead.

They will more than likely start the second half the way they started the first half. We need to match them and frustrate them, then we may have a chance.

Can we stop them scoring tomorrow? Maybe not. So how many are they going to score? At least two, maybe three. We will not be able to match that, so if we can keep the goals against to one, then we are capable Of getting a 1-1 draw. COYB

My goodness, that's a big loss for us, but it was expected. When will we ever make any profit again?

Thankyou Bilkul for taking us on and putting 25 million towards our debts and running costs. Hopefully one day you will get you returns.

Can't say I noticed as I was too busy watching events on the pitch and cheering the team on from my own spot on the Smeth'. I'm not too bothered if anyone leaves early so long as they do the decent thing and get a move on and shift out of the way so my view of the pitch isn't obstructed. COYB  8) .
Of course, SmethDan the events on the pitch are more important, but you have highlighted another item with people leaving early. How infuriating it is when your view is constantly being obstructed.

I agree this would be helpful fot Johnston but actually, for Fellows, this would be a bad move. We need to provide him the space to get to the byline. We need to leave him isolated 1v1. What's happening currently is that he is getting doubled up on, we need to take that second person away for him or he needs to let the ball go at the right time to someone who, in theory, should be free.
I don't think it would be a bad move for Fellows. He does have space to get to the by line beyond the fullback, because when he is doubled up on, the other defender is usually on the inside.
Please note, this is not me criticising Tom in anyway.

Another game that was on a tightrope towards the end and plenty of seats vacated.

With the extra 9 minutes played fans were needed to support the team and help them get over the line. When Swift scored the 2nd goal, the Smethwick, where most of our vociferous fans and you would think passionate fans was more than half empty. Other stands are, of course, open for the same diagnosis.

This is the reason I think Fellows is not hitting the by line more often. Usually early on in the game he does try to get to the by line, but he then finds out the fullback is fast and blocks the cross. He will then start to cut inside, and try a shot. He then will try to mix it by going to the by line again but the defender keeps tight to him, so he stops the usually passes back to Furlong or who ever is supporting in that position. Tom is fast but not exceptionally fast and there are many full backs just as fast.

What is needed is Furlong or someone to overlap the full back then he gets the cross in. The same can be said for Johnson, there are times when Stiles needs to overlap.

It’s really interesting to see the wide range of views on this performance, from “best under Mowbray” to “poor.”

I personally didn’t think it was all that good against really weak opposition - our work in the final third in particular was far from convincing - but it shows once again how much it’s a game of opinions.
Of course we all have our opinions, but it was clear to see today how wasteful we are in the final third in creating goal scoring chances.

I'm looking forward to going down the Albion today, but just hope it doesn't turn out to be similar to the last home game, which was such a depressing night. COYB

If we are dropping a midfielder it has to be Molumby. He's on 9 bookings another against Oxford and he will miss Leeds and QPR.
I'd rather he was an option for the Leeds game than risking him against Oxford.
Mowatt, Diakite and Price/Bany should have enough to deal with Oxford.
I don't no why, but Mulumby is not on the list!

Was that a well fought game from us, and deserving a point. Or should we be concerned?

I didn't enjoy the players showing their versatility and freedom to play, I would like to see a bit more structure to our play.

Blackburn doing enough, Albion not doing enough. If we can do more (a good pass in the final third would do) in the second half we can turn the game to our advantage. If not, it would not surprise me to see Blackburn gain the advantage and scoring a goal.

I stand at the back of the Smethwick and you see a lot of people 'leaving early' most of us are not, we are simply going down onto the rail so when the final whistle goes we are straight down the steps and out, that being said I left out of pure frustration as soon as Wednesday equalised, with a typical #albionthat attitude in my head!
You were not the only one to leave when they scored the equaliser. Now answer my earlier question. Did you wish you hadn't?
I should imagine all of us felt frustrated, just like the players did, but did they have your attitude? No! They got on with it and deservedly got the winning goal. What would it be like if every fan gave up and left at that point? Or course it's up to you at what time you leave, and I don't like to judge people. But it wish we didn't have so many fans with this attitude. We are entering a new era down the Albion and maybe the typical Albion attitude you mention will be no more. Exciting times are ahead and every minute needs to be sampled. I've always thought a football match is a relationship between the team and it's supporters. What is a game without the passion of its fans behind it.

You just did ?
I had a feeling someone would come up with that most obvious of replies.

With the late winner yesterday, it just made wonder if those that left early, wished they hadn't . I know people have there own reasons and I'm not going to judge them, but there is nothing much better than celebrating a late winning goal.

A bit of a frustrating game yesterday especially in the first half when I thought we were well on top, but just couldn't get the goal we needed. We looked to try and win the ball back early with our closing down and there was more movement from players when we had the ball. It was strange how their goal was disallowed when it seemed the linesman had second thoughts and flagged for offside.

Altogether, the signs were there yesterday for good things to come. UP THE ALBION.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned fans leaving early yesterday and missing the winning goal and the wild celebrations.

Unsure who will be our centre forward, but we really need to see Tom Fellows back on form and doing what he does best. Whoever plays, the manager will want players in the box when we attack, and Tom is the man to deliver. COYB

I don't like the way they get players into pockets where they are not marked up by our players. They able to advance the ball up field quite easy at times. There is no real threat from us, but I think we all know that would be the position.

Going by the league positions of both teams, it should be a close game. They have home advantage so will be favourites, so a draw would be good result for us. But let's see how it pans out. COYB

Did enough to have won today, but when the chances come you have to hit the back of the net.

Looking forward to the game today. I think the managerial appointment will give us all a lift.

My first ever Albion game was against Stoke and a repeat result will do, but this time they don't score their three goals to our five. COYB

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Tony Mowbray appointed as Head Coach
« on: January 18, 2025, 09:26:18 AM »
Originally I didn't think appointing an x manager would be good, but that's only because it didn't work out in the past. I am warming to the fact we are now going to appoint Tony, after wondering how it would work out with Raphael Wicky in charge. At least he knows what's needed to gain promotion, but perhaps we should not be talking about that just yet. Let's see how things start working out for him first.

Welcome back Tony, and best of luck with everything. COYB
