Rafa Benitez is another that just sprung to mind . Similar style of play to Carlos. Would suit our current crop.

He mentioned Klopp and Guardiola yesterday in hope of offering a defence of his management but all it does is highlight his failings. Football, and particularly football tactics, have evolved to a place where identity and philosophy are things you cannot hope to succeed without.
Pep, Klopp, Conte, Arteta, ten Haag lead the way - but that attitude filters down the chain. Howe, Potter, Cooper have done it in the Championship. Beale at QPR, Smith at Norwich, Jones at Luton, Martin at Swansea, Mowbray, Kompany, Tomasson, Bilic, Corberan at Huddersfield last year.
They have a precise way of playing and definable systems, shapes, tactics and discuss the game in that way. You could almost call it 'nerdy' or academic. There has to be a plan to counteract their tactics along with having a defined game of your own. And we don't.
Bruce battens down the hatches, roles his sleeves up, keeps bashing away and points the finger at individual mistakes. Closest thing to a system is 'Jed you cross it, Grady you run with it, strikers give 'em something to think about'.
I can't wait for him to go and hope we make a forward thinking, progressive appointment with a manager who thinks about the game in a way that allows us to compete with some of the other good coaches in the division.
