West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Adam Armstrong signs on loan
« on: February 06, 2025, 08:59:58 AM »
So we are in the playoffs.  One chance in four of promotion?  Not really, such is the superiority of the teams ifinishing 3rd and 4th it is more like one chance in ten.

So what is the point of an expensive loan, suppressing the development of our younger players for the possible financial reward of half a million from our home first-leg playoff tie?

If life seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing
When you're feeling in the dumps
Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle, that's the thing
And
Always look on the bright side of life
(Come on)

There is not a world where we can hold onto Palmer and Griffiths so a choice had to be made if not now then in the summer. I am fairly sanguine about the deal overall.

The key here is we made a sale to reinvest in the squad not stay afloat.

Yes absolutely.

Not much there for me to dislike, sorry Palmer has gone but it all makes sense on balance.

Here's my review: tell me when we last had a window this good?

14 draws so far in the league, non attributable to Mowbray,we knew it would be more WLWLWL and that looks like what we will get.

Agreed.

Some of the comments here are laughable
I'm out

I do agree. Though he should have kept Tom and Mikey on, but the man's on his third game in charge and I'll reserve the right to judge him on his, I don't know, eighth.

Some folk on here are delusional about what we are capable of. Best team in the division one week, worst the next. And you know what, most of the teams in this division ARE both.

I think the problem is everyone was predicting an easy win for us after last week but the Championship just doesn’t work like that. Plymouth have shored up their defence and made it hard for us.

And more or less what I was expecting. The reverse fixture at the Hawthorns was hardly inspiring and only difference was that Maja was on hand to give us one solitary goal.

I'm guessing that TM's actually wondering if he actually HAS played the same team as last week...

I'll hold my hand up and admit I'd said I was cautious about an ex-manager returning (previous records were largely not favourable).

I did love the Mowbray era and now I'm feeling cautious but very optimistic about The Second Coming....

I was at Deepdale (supporting my brother in law!!) so missed out match but double delight at BOTH results, seeing Boro get what they absolutely deserved. Blimey they don't half fall over a lot. I will catch up on our match today with renewed excitement for the club under a proper attack-minded manager.

Bring it on!

Even if he goes on a "free", we still will save his wages.

Can't we just keep him in a box until it's all over? I'm sure he won't struggle, that would require expending energy.

Shades of Bruce and Sheff Utd

This is not going to end well at all, never convinced by TM and nothing tonight has made me think otherwise. Boring safe appointment that guarantees mid table nothing more.

Unbelievable Jeff!!!!!!!
How long were you allowed to settle into your job?

Styles making Doak look ordinary.

Despite a few moments, Styles MOMO for me.

*2-0. Not a deserved result at all.

Palmer trying to get to throw the ball out, their player impedeing him. The ref does nothing.

The ref has WWFC tattooed on his butt cheeks.

I'll be with you shortly. More aggression required Albion.

Jed, the goal is that way, not behind you. (ref: to earlier on but probably another 20 other incidents)

And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife
And you may ask yourself, "Well, how did I get here?"

He was brilliant. I was too young to appreciate him but I did manage to see him play in one game at The Hawthorns, so I feel lucky about that. Thank you Jeff Astle!

They have made a cock up of galactic sized proportions sacking Cooper.

I quite agree. Think they've lost the plot.
