Weve thrown it, why cant we get players in sooner, instead of messing around until the last day.
Because we are a joke of a club! We have (& always seem to have) tight fisted owners who won't invest a penny in the club, not to mention a joke of a chairman who knows nothing about football only how to save costs (which any idiot can do). For the sake of speculating a few quid we are throwing away the chance of mega money in the Prem.

I sit in the East Stand and whilst I agree that the Quest camera angle from behind Bartley seems to suggest it was a pen I was certain from my angle he chested it.
Ref was dire, gave us nothing whilst awarding Brentford a foul virtually every time they went down.
Thought Furlong gave us the width we needed on the right after Matty was subbed. Yep, Sawyers was poor & Ferguson not a lot better.
Brentford played some great stuff. Best team down the Hawthorns this calendar year.

Beginning to believe not just promotion but champions, early days I know but champions don’t play brilliantly every game but grind out results. Credit to the team and manager . Look out villa and wolves we’re coming for you  .
Unfortunately we are going to struggle against our neighbours as money talks and whilst their owners are SHOUTING our owners are not even mumbling  :(

I agree with most of the previous posts but it seems to me some fans have it in for certain players & let it colour their judgement. I am certainly no fan of Livermore or HRK but today I thought Jake had a decent game & HRK was a definite improvement on Zohore, who apart from missing an open goal was anonymous  (again!)

I can't fault the player's effort and application last night. I'd just like to know where that 'thou shalt not pass' mentality was for most of the season. Too many points dropped as too many games passed us by.

The support from the stands was superb in the most part last night, far more so than deserved by Jenkins and Lai. Lions led by absolute fkn donkeys, hang your heads in shame the pair of you. Clueless, passionless muppets. WE ARE ALBION, not you. What's more is that you never will be.

COYB and SOTV 8) .
Couldn't agree more on all your points but especially the last 2 sentences.

They don't have to try. They just don't have a clue! Should not be any where near a management position.
Jenkins is there because Lai didn't realise the only reason JP had him there was as a useful idiot to allow him to shaft the club in order to enrich himself. If only greedy Peace had sold to Fosun..........

So now the manager/coach of little old PNE prefers them to us?!!!
I would just like to say a big thank you to Peace & his useful idiot Jenkins for turning my beloved club into a laughing stock. >:(

I've just finished reading all the After Match Debate comments. The vast majority comment on Sheff Utd being quicker to the ball than us etc etc. BUT I think only one or two people mentioned the point that they were fresher than us due to our mid week match. For me that explains almost everything about our jaded performance. They had 77 hours more rest than our guys & that showed.
A lot of people also commented on how poor Barry was (agreed) but I read in today's paper that their manager deliberately targeted him & instructed his players to give him no time or space in which to play!
To me those 2 points pretty much explained how the match went as it did. Even then on chances I thought we were well worth a draw (but then again I am a bit one-eyed!)

Not about the air kick, more about self realisation. When Neville scythed down Dorrans, that too was something that happened week in week out but he knew that his legs had gone and he couldn't carry on to the high standard he had set himself.
As for Barry, yes, I would like to think that with Johannson joining and the emergence of Field and Harper would reduce our reliance on him also.
That will be the Neville tackle which the ref adjudged fair and played on!! Most obvious penalty I've ever seen in my life. However to be fair to the ref Ferguson was United's manager at that time & you were not allowed to award a penalty against United when they weren't playing against a top 6 team.

Fully agree with this against 'Dark Arts' as well which makes it worse.

What did make me smile was the substitutes and how some have a go at Darren for not making any. Well he made some yesterday and it didn't work big time......its very easy to say 'he should have done this, or done that' in hindsight but we were out thought by TP which takes some believing to be honest [and yes I do know he is quite experienced].

Just need to get over it and move on......
Yes I know its hindsight but DM's failure to make substitutions or as yesterday making the wrong ones is costing us points. Pulis did the only thing he could do when he threw on 2 attackers and changed his formation from 1 up top to 3 up top. DM should have countered their change in shape with his subs and not have stuck with 4-3-3. Again we were in a winning position with only the last quarter to go, the opposition throw on more attackers, change their shape and pinch points off us! We can't carry on doing the same old thing and expecting it to turn out differently. Please DM be more pragmatic with our game management. It's no disgrace to see out a lead.

Don't think so yes a tug but sure there's something in the rules that says the ball has to be in playing distance and Usain Bolt wasn't getting to that ball
Nothing in the rules about proximity of the ball

Cracking young prospect. One who needs to pick, choose and time his runs a bit better so he doesn't knacker himself out too quickly in games. That knowledge will only come with experience though be that from the start (replaced before blowing out of his bum) or off the bench. Get that contract signed Rekeem  ;) .
Completely agree with the tiredness comment. But what worries me more is that Darren Moore can't see it. Cost us dearly in the Norwich game where we desperately needed fresh legs!

He can’t put any money in as it is all in China

If this was even remotely correct how do Wolves' owners continue to plough multi millions into their quest for world domination (but don't tell Huddersfield & Palace!)?

Shame if Albion are not appealing the red card, that was never a sending off offence. That game is getting pathetic and the officials are getting worse. Too many namby pambies in the World.

The ref had no choice but to send him off. One look at the Blackburn player lying prostrate & motionless on the ground holding his face told him he must have suffered a lethal assault! Flaming play actors. Should have booked Jake for the arm pull and the Blackburn bloke for simulating serious injury & attempting to get a player sent off!

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Jay Rodriguez
« on: December 29, 2018, 12:29:40 PM »
I can't believe ten games in or whatever it is some people still do not understand the system and how we play it.

Jay Rodriguez plays as a forward not in anyway, shape or form as a midfielder. He plays centrally but has a duty to drop slightly deeper than the other two (wide) forwards who are expected to stay up top not tracking back. We play with a fluidity that means we interchange. Because we have Barnes and Gibbs down the left our wide right forward generally tends to get into the box off the ball more often and come infield more. I did wonder whether Gayle could do that initially but he has played the role really well of late.

Matt Phillips does not play wide right, he plays right side of a midfield three. He does tend to try and force the issue out wide at times, sometimes vacating the midfield area which isn't always ideal but the reason he does that is because we don't have a right back that can do anything going forward. The wide right forward often comes inside and leaves the right flank vacant for Phillips to exploit. If we sign Tavernier in January then Phillips will probably modify his game slightly which should benefit the team even more.

Adarabioyo does not form a back three at any time in as much as we don't shuffle across into a defensive three, he just barely gets forward so we have three defenders back but that isn't the same as playing a back three. When he does go forward he barely ever passes forwards and can't cross a ball which is why Phillips sometimes has to force the issue down the right flank.

We do play with a fluidity which sees players turn up in other positions of the field but Jay Rods principal role is to play as a central forward but he doesn't play on the shoulder or with his back to goal he is expected to drop deeper and pick up the ball facing goal.

Spot on Atomic.  Agree with every point you made. Couldn't have put it any better myself!

Like the other chap says, if Abraham turns up, it's 4-1. They weren't difficult chances, but they were missed nonetheless

Bar your first goal, did you create anything clear cut? Gayle skied a header second half, but it was huff and puff and you quickly ran out of ideas.

I draw a lot of confidence from how we play. Derby, Forest, Boro, Albion and Small Heath. All were or are above us, but we've been comfortably better than all of them, with the chances we had, should have won them all too and scored 17. This is supposed to be our difficult run too. We'll strengthen in January and be fine.

And how do you think the game would have gone if you hadn't have fluked the first goal? I'll tell you. We score first, you chase the game & we destroy you on the counter, similar to our Leeds game. Significant that while the game was level we were the dominant team & looking the most likely  including the last 5 minutes when our guys were dead on their feet. You should say a huge thanks to Sky playing against a team who had less than 4 days rest whilst Vile had more than 6!
Agree on the manager front. Pity you didn't get Henry.

The previous board failed. They would have us demoted in no time.
Surely you are not saying you prefer Jenkins?! If so you are backing his decisions to sign useless overage freebies Mears & Hoolahan! Any idiot can cut costs & not allow the manager to sign players that actually cost money. Why is it we never have an ambitious board ?

Thought Tosin, Daws, Townsend & Mozza all had good games today. Thought Mozza was really busy in midfield & produced some direct driving runs at the heart of midfield. Mind you that crossfield ball at the end........aaaarrrgggh

Thought the lad had a good game today. Did anyone else notice he started in the middle today & then switched places with Daws?
Someone else reckons Bartley is now suspended. Perhaps ongoing, the better back 3 will be Tosin, Daws & Hegazi? But who would play on the left?? All 3 (4 if you include Bartley) are right footed!

Great Post.

I don't think for a second DM thought he'd scratching around for freebies when he took the job

Our squad is not the best and our bench is pathetic imo.

I hope we can be in or close to the play offs in Jan and then strengthen with a box to box mf and a commanding ch to replace Bartley.

Reality bit me a while back and I think it will dawn on others soon that DM is doing his best whilst getting no support from cost cutter Jenkins.

We tracked woods all summer.and Stoke lose their couple of games and they buy him straight away.

Lot is expected now from Dowling to find what we need.

It's also sad how our "acclaimed" youth team cannot produce as good or better than mears and hoolahan.
Spot on. My feelings exactly.

Unnecessary comment. We were injury hit too. You'll be one of those who thinks that we should walk this league and that anything less than a win is a reason to dig out Moore. This league isn't like that. Have you forgotten the absolute shambles of last year? Have you forgotten that he inherited this squad from Pulis and the shambles of a board that were sacked. Wake up. Support the team and let's see where we end up. One thing for certain is that constantly moaning is unhelpful to what we are all trying to achieve.
It's the present board(I.e. Jenkins) that's a shambles! Signing overage deadbeats on freebies like Mears & Hoolahan, not to mention just banking the Chadli £12million when instead we should have backed the manager & signed some quality players to get us promoted at the first attempt.
Give me the previous board any day. At least they showed some ambition & tried to sign some quality players even if they didn't all come off. The real mistake that Board made was renewing Pulis's contract at the end of the season when we could have recruited Hodgson instead.

I'm well aware that the Rondon/Gayle deal was trumpeted at the time (& since) as being a season long loan deal but everything Rondon said afterwards implied that he had left us permanently & was a Newcastle player & how much he was looking forward to it. Unfortunately these sentiments weren't echoed in our favour by Gayle  :(
Has any body else wondered what is the meaning of Gayle's goal celebration routine where it looks like he's phoning someone? Might be calling Rafa? Reminds me of Kamara indicating JP was barmy .

Brewster wasted 30m to get hundreds of millions. Where's the correlation with Gochin?

He clearly bought us based on past performance and profits and thought he get the same dividends as Rolly.

But, then came the unplanned drop.
If Rolly refers to greedy Peace you're wrong about the dividends, he didn't take any dividends because he would've had to share them with the minority shareholders. Instead he took a very large salary that he didn't have to share with anyone!

We really have missed a trick here Jenkins / Lai should have offered him a blank cheque. With their current success rate I don’t have much faith in them making the correct decision again when it comes to the DOF and here was a guy with a proven track record at the club who was available.
Heard we'd offered him Megabucks to return but he wouldn't come back :(
