                                                      Foster

                 Nyom               Dawson                Evans                  Gibbs

                                         Barry                    Krychowiak

                  Phillips                           Morrison                       McClean

                                                      Rodriguez

Subs   Myhill, Hegazi, Brunt, Livermore, Chadli, Robson Kanu, Burke

Would be my starting XI as well, would be tempted to put Burke in instead of McClean if Zabaleta is RB for West Ham, pace would destroy him.

Rondon definitely having a strop at full time, ran straight down the tunnel and threw his shirt on the floor on the way...

As a striker I'd say Rondon's style of play is similar to someone like Costa (not saying he is anywhere near that standard). They both are 'target men' but not of the static kind like Llorente but instead run the channels and give the defenders no time.

Costa aerial duels won this season is just 25%. People rave about Costa's contribution to the way Chelsea play and how his pressing and strength are vital to letting other players play their game. I wouldn't imagine Chelsea fans are quoting his aerial duels won saying it's not good enough.

Rondon's main issue is he just needs to get on the end of a few more things in and around the area and then I don't think we have this discussion about his all round game..

I don't think he had his best game by any stretch, his touch did let him down at some vital times, but his overall contribution to the team really cannot be questioned. At times on Saturday in the second half when Bournemouth were starting to pen us in he would release so much pressure carrying the ball 50/60 yards up field on his own which I'm sure the rest of the team were grateful for.

He was very isolated at times as usual and this can very much impact the stats that have been quoted. He might not be an out and out goalscorer but in the style of play we have some of these premier league out and out goalscorers wouldn't be as half as effective as Rondon and what he brings to our team.

Don't think hes immune from criticism and he does need to work on his sharpness around the area but I don't think he deserves the level of criticism that hes getting from Saturdays game.

My only hope from the signings that we have made is that we can improve our style of play. Whilst I realise Pulis will never change, with two genuine full backs with pace and Dawson moving centrally (I hope), we can push our defensive line much higher up the pitch than it currently is.

If we can do this I hope the deficiencies in Yacob and Fletcher getting around the pitch will be covered up slightly and we will be able to get players a lot closer to Rondon rather than leaving him completely isolated up top.

Signings we have made I have no problem with, don't rate HRK like most but the others are solid additions. However we are definitely a couple of players short as we all know but I don't think that will stop us edging towards as safety as we did last year.

Wouldn't be surprised if we end up with £20mill + Diouf from Stoke.

Any takers on that basis?

100% take that deal. Would be good competition for Rondon and would provide us with that 3rd Striker we need meaning we can concentrate on other areas.

Starting from New street tomorrow morning, have been a bit anxious but now the time has come I can't wait. No point being worried the whole time, enjoy it!

Which block are you in? I'm in the Russia end in block G, hoping a fair few English make it into the same area!

As the likelihood of selling the tickets decrease, does anyone with experience of going to England games have any advice for tickets in the opposition end?

Well me and my mates don't really want to sit in the Russia fans so they are available to buy if you want to take all 4... We paid 150 a ticket through Viagogo so want to make a fair chunk of that back!

Took a punt on Viagogo and unfortunately got 4 tickets smack bang in the middle of the Russia end, anyone think we will be able to get anything back off touts over there? Or anyone interested in buying tickets who ain't fussed where they sit?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: How do we get more bums on seats?
« on: May 21, 2016, 11:50:03 AM »
I agree to an extent that it isn't an atmosphere debate but to me it is a huge selling point to attract fans.. When the atmosphere is buzzing I know I want to go to the game win or lose - losing 6-0 to Liverpool all those years ago was still one of the best atmospheres in the ground and despite the team being poor left people wanting to go back for more.

I know we need ways of getting more bums on seats, but the atmosphere and the team is what is going to make them come back for more.

Its all down to the atmosphere for me, I know the football is bad, but it is just so flat down there it just sucks all the fun out of the day.

We need to figure a way of getting some noise created and making it a horrible place for away teams, at the moment its the most relaxing away day of the season for opposition teams.

I think we all would have loved for him to get more players in himself included but its a slow process to rebuild a squad. He's started logically at the back to make sure we aren't losing games.

People who are saying it wasn't a priority are kidding themselves as that defence was getting older and slower by the game. We now have a basis to work from and I wouldn't be surprised to see much more forward thinking signings with the increase in finances. We need to be in this division next year and by buying known quantities in important positions we are trying to ensure just that.

« on: August 20, 2015, 04:21:13 PM »
I think Fletcher had a poor game against Watford with his distribution but asides from that I think hes been a fantastic signing.

Covers a lot of ground and given time I think we will see him really get hold of games. People have to remember how long he was out of football for.

Completely disagree with the 4 man midfield comment, Yacob is the one for me who can't play in a 4 man midfield, too pedestrian and too deep and doesnt allow us to move up the pitch at all. Yacob is perfect in a 5 man midfield sitting in front of the back 4. Fletcher and morrison for me in a 4 man midfield.

For me the recruitment department should be under so much pressure from Peace now... How can we sign 11 players in the summer and a new manager to only have 1 of them still considered a first team player. I'd be sacked in my day job if my performance was that bad.

The two good signings we have had any of us could have suggested.

Are you Lescotts agent? If you slide in the box with your hand miles above you head your going to run the risk of giving away a penalty. I'm a big fan of Lescott but to try and blame Dawson for him handballing it is ridiculous

Got to say although it was poor by Lescott, it all stemmed from Dawson giving the ball away in a ridiculous position allowing Spurs to carve us open. I don't believe we lost because he was left back. I believe we lost because when we were having a shocker and the leader of our defence wasn't in the middle sorting everyone out... Dawson is a championship defender to me. We need to have the strongest spine possible so Lescott has to play CB.

If Terry Burton is the one giving recommendations on the coaching staff and playing staff we have recruited then he needs to be following AI out the door sharpish!

If we do replace him the key is that the fans can unite around the appointment. There is zero enjoyment and pure negativity around the ground which is turning people away. For me we push the boat out and go young and exciting and try get Eddie Howe or we have an experienced head in Tony Pulis. If either of those two failed I'd have confidence in us coming back up at least.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: What is our best starting 11 now?
« on: September 03, 2013, 05:14:27 PM »
Foster

Jones
McAuley
Olsson
Ridgewell

Mulumbu
Yacob

Sessengon
Morrison/Anelka
Sinclair

Anichebe

That would be my starting 11. Who knows what state of mind Long will be in now but I don't rate him anyway. I think we need to get back to having some balance in the side and having Vic up front means we will always have a target man whereas Anelka needs to roam and drop deep. That attacking midfield 3 will have the pace we have lacked for a long time now!

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Victor Anichebe
« on: September 03, 2013, 05:10:27 PM »
For me its a very good signing, as someone has previously said we seem to be a better team when we have a striker who allows for the other midfielders to express themselves by holding the ball up and bringing them into play. I for one wouldn't want to try and defend against this bloke.

As well on the price tag, if we were getting 5.5 mil for Long then 3 million upfront payment for Big Vic is a very good deal. Think he is an improvement on Long.

Thought Dawson was decent last night, uses the ball far better than Tamas who seems to struggle to control and pass the ball.
